While the system is at idle or just light use I get the BSOD. It happens once a day and there seems to be no trigger. Core temps are at normal and run about 40 Celsius. I have tried updating most of my drivers through the device manager and will run a memtest soon. Any and all help is much appreciated, thank you!

Run a chkdsk on the system partition to check for bad sectors or system errors.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm sorry but I forgot to indicate in the OP that I already ran a chkdsk /r on the drive and it came up negative. I can run it again just to double check.

Test your RAM using Memtest86+. Let it run until 6-8 passes have completed or errors have been found.
    RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Enable Driver Verifier. Enabling this should hopefully crash your system and then point to the faulty driver that is causing problems. However before you do, it is advised that you create a system restore point and backup first.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

The following drivers need to be updated:

    Code:
    AtiPcie.sys Wed May 06 01:00:22 2009
    cmudax3.sys Fri Sep 12 14:20:49 2008
    GEARAspiWDM.sys Mon May 18 22:17:04 2009
These drivers can be found by searching them in Google and then finding the associated software or driver. Finally, find the latest version of this driver or software and download and install it. Some of the drivers may also be found here.

You should also update any other drivers you can think of including graphics, audio, chipset etc.

You have AVG installed, is that correct? At least to test, uninstall it and install MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) instead.
Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows

Make sure all Windows updates are installed.

Update to the latest service pack.

I updated AtiPcie.sys and GEARAspiWDM.sys, however cmudax3.sys is a driver that I have already updated a few days ago and is already the most up to date. I removed AVG and downloaded MSE, and updated to SP1 and installed other additional updates.

I have not been able to run memtest86 but I have enabled driver verifier and the computer has crashed once more since then. How do I use driver verifier to determine what the problem is?

    Thanks!

You will want to post your latest crash reports so we can analyze the Driver Verified crash. Hopefully it will provide useful information on what is causing the crashes. It may take a few crashes to find a pattern, but we can take a look at the latest and maybe we'll get lucky. :)

Let us know how the memtest goes. All your verified crashes have one thing in common: memory errors. If memtest86+ comes up clean, we should check the memory settings and the memory itself to determine if it is compatible with your motherboard/processor.
    • Download and install CPU-Z and Upload screenshots of the CPU, Mainboard, Memory, and SPD tabs. In the SPD tab, upload an image of each slot.
