It think it might be a false positive, but I am really keen to get to the bottom of this..

Many thanks,

Let me know if I can help. IM interested as well.

A bit of an update...

I have been travelling for a week, and have not connected my laptop to my usual external displays ( a variety of monitors - 1920 x 1080 etc ) during that time. I have used my machine during this time as per my normal and have not had a single BSOD during that time.

So its currently points towards either a hardware fault ( video (CPU / Motherboard), memory ) or driver issue given its is driving a much larger display and multiple displays. The hardware / memory tests have not showed up anything and its a single SIMM, so will be onto HP support tomorrow, but I am suspecting a driver issue given its been running perfectly for the last 5 days...

Will let you know what we find...

Cheers, Simon

Further update..

The problem got worse and with no hardware faults found on the HP laptop, yet it still was crashing. So we built another exact HP with exactly the same software stack.. All was good for 48 hours and then we experienced the same crash.. Ok, so obviously not hardware software..

Started to go through every application one by one..........

Finally found it !! The VPN software that one of the companies I consult to OEM's is under the covers based on a checkpoint product that in itself contains a version of ZONE ALARM !!! Known problem, but hidden by layers of software...

Removed this software and its drivers and problem solved.. Well aware of the Zone Alarm issues prior to this but it was so well hidden...

Very frustrating and wasted lots of time and money, but at least its solved..

Many thanks to everyone for there assistance and help.. My HP has not crashed once since..
