I don't think this is driver related. It may be referencing the intel driver as the offender, but when the gpus were in it was referencing the nvidia driver. This looks more and more like a faulty motherboard. It could be the cpu. But, if they are both still under warranty, you should get a trouble ticket going on them both.

Hardware related trouble codes will reference whatever process is running at the time of fault.

Did you try uninstalling the driver for the device and then re-installing? Sometimes, drivers get corrupted and cause crashes.
    1. Download the drivers you want for your display card(s)
      1. Click Start Menu
      2. Right Click My Computer/Computer
      3. Click Manage
      4. Click Device Manager from the list on the left
      5. Expand Display adapters
      6. Do the following for each adapter (in case you have multiple display cards)
        • Right click the adapter
        • Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
        • Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK

      Alternatively:
      1. Login as an adminstrative user
      2. Click Start Menu
      3. Click Control Panel
      4. Click Hardware and Sound
      5. Click Device Manager (the last link under Devices and Printers)
      6. Expand Display adapters
    2. Restart your computer after uninstalling drivers for all display cards
    3. Install the driver you selected for the display cards once Windows starts

I agree James that it looks more likely to be motherboard related, but still worth checking drivers to rule them out. :) I always like to rule out software before hardware since software is easier and less expensive to fix.

writhziden, I don't think it's driver relate since I'm on another fresh install remember? And I redownloaded the lastest drivers instead of using those that were saved on my storage drive.

James, is there any way to differentiate between which would be wrong? I just don't want to RMA a part that is only going to be u-turned right around and me being stuck paying shipping both ways. At least, that's what Antec was saying when I was inquiring about RMA'ing the psu they sent me as a replacement.

Without a test board, or test CPU, no. Do you have a friend who might be willing to help you out by letting you transplant? Otherwise, start with the CPU, its shipping will be cheaper.

Sadly, I'm one of the few in my circles that likes Intel and I'm 99% sure I'm the only one on Sandy Bridge. Maybe I'll get lucky and find somebody.

Ah sorry. My workload the past few days has been a bit high as many of my old threads became active again. Been helping in 30-40 threads a day this weekend, so I lost track of your install status. The Prime95 and Intel tests are the only tests I know of to test the CPU reliably. Unfortunately, they are not conclusive if there is a motherboard fault causing issues.

Did you run all three tests with Prime95 for a few hours each? Have you tried CPU stress test using IntelBurnTest?

Ah, did not know that you were that busy. Anyways, I usually run small fft in Prime95 and now that you mention it I did notice that, even when I first got my 2500k, one core is slightly behind during those tests. I don't know how to explain really, just like 3 cores run through the tests at about the same speed and then 1 core lags behind.

Also, I do remember reading somewhere that the large fft tests place a bit more stress on the overall system and small fft is more for cpu? So, I'm thinking maybe run really long ones of each and check errors and such?

The small and large FFTs do a bit of CPU testing. The small does do more CPU, but the large will test CPU and power consumption. The blend tests everything and tests RAM more than the other two tests but still tests the CPU quite a bit. Running 3+ hours of each should be good testing; the longer the better. Just make sure to monitor temperatures in case heat becomes an issue.

Have you gotten any error messages with Prime95 due to the one core lagging behind? Just did a quick Google search on your issue, and it seems that one core lagging behind may be due to other processes using that core through Windows.

Did you change the power options mode to high performance?

    That solved my error 0x116
