Screen Shuts off and computer locks up whenever I Launch a Game

Alright I was playing through the walking dead game fine no problems then I had to go eat dinner so I paused the game (hit the esc key) and my monitor shut off and said no signal whenever I turned it back on. My mouse and keyboard also started shutting off and on and nothing I pressed (alt+F4, ctrl+alt+delete, etc) nothing got any response. So I shut off my computer booted it back up tried to play the same game again got the same issue. Then I tried to play something else and I got the same problem so whenever I launch any game my screen shuts off and computer essentially crashes. When Windows boots back up it says that it has recovered from a serious error similar to when you encounter a BSOD but doesn't ask you to send a report to MS.

Also whenever I come back from the error windows for some reason attempts and fails to re-install the wireless receiver for my 360 controller. However it works fine again once I unplug and plug it back in again.

So far here is what I've tried:
    1. Uninstalling the game that started this.
    2. Re-installing my video drivers.
    3. Wiping my video drivers with driver cleaner in safe mode then re-installing my drivers.
    4. Re-installing direct x using a setup file from a random steam game.
    5. Doing a system restore from as far back as I had (April 25th)

Run a virus scan and malware scan, and then do some hardware checks.
    • If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

    • Download and install Malwarebytes, update it, do not start the free trial, and then run a full scan, and see the Good and Free system security combination. for better security steps and scanning tools. Make sure to update the security software before running the full scan.

    • Monitor temperatures during the following tests.
Use the following programs to monitor the temperatures.

    • Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).

For Part 3: If You Have Errors: If you swap any memory components, follow these steps for ESD safety:
      1. Shut down and turn off your computer.
      2. Unplug all power supplies to the computer (AC Power then battery for laptops, AC power for desktops)
      3. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and ensure all power drains from components.
      4. Make sure you are grounded by using proper grounding techniques, i.e. work on an anti-static workbench, anti-static desk, or an anti-static pad. Hold something metallic while touching it to the anti-static surface, or use an anti-static wristband to attach to the anti-static material while working.

Once these steps have been followed, it is safe to remove and replace components within your computer.

Also, please follow the https://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html to provide us with your application and system logs. Even if you are not getting a blue screen, those logs can provide information regarding crashes like you are having, as well.

Yeah it's working fine now I'm not really sure what it was I pretty much just re-tried everything I did and it's working now. Hopefully it stays that way. Sorry it took me so long to respond. Should I mark the thread as solved or not since I'm not really sure what the problem was or how I fixed it?

Once your system has been up and running normally for a long enough period of time for you to feel comfortable and sure it is solved, go ahead and mark the thread solved.

No worries. We're just glad when problems are solved, regardless of how they get there.
