windows 7 boot error following botched windows 8 installation

Ok, so after I downloaded the wndows 8 finish consumer preview and loaded the iso onto the drive, I went to boot it off of the flash drive. I ran into the common problem of the installer telling me I had a missing restartDVD driver. so, I go to restart my computer, and I got the following error:

An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data.

I have no idea where to head from here. I don't have a windows install disc for windows 7 (laptop did not bring one, manufacturer opted to make a partition, which I never got around to copying).

Do I have any cards to play here? I saved some files from the flash drive while in windows 7, just before this happened and I really cannot afford to lose them.

Steps 1-2 in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 will get you an install disc. You can use that to get to the System Recovery Options OPTION TWO steps. In the recovery options environment, Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console will allow you to backup any important files.

Once you have backed up the files you need, carefully follow the steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot
