    Problem Devices:
    Code:
    Unknown Device	USB\VID_0000&PID_0000\5&BE1018E&0&1	43
First thing to do is determine which device the above is pointing to. Do you have your chipset drivers installed?

Security Software: ??? I recommend either of these two setups:
Download and install the security setup of your choice, update the software, and then run a full scan of your system for viruses and malware. If you only install MSE, I would also suggest installing and updating Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download, but do not start the free trial/full version of Malwarebytes. Run a full scan with Malwarebytes after updating it. Post back the results.

Which ASUS P5K motherboard do you have installed? Please fill in your system specs more accurately by using System Info - See Your System Specs as a guide. Fill the specs in on your profile, not in a post in this thread.

I have just run SlimDrivers which shows me fully uptodate. I have, however, no idea how to identify the problem as in Device Manager, Properties, Details under Value it shows "unknown device" and under Hardware ID "UBS/unknown".

    Security Software: ???
I am running my browsers in Sandboxie and scanning any saved file through VirusTotal.
    Automatic scans with HitmanPro daily.
    Pretty light and tight setup.

Have done so - am afraid that even the SystemInfo program you pointed at does not offer much more info on the motherboard

For SlimDrivers: We do not recommend automated driver update software. It often finds drivers for devices similar to but not exactly the same as the hardware actually on the system. This can lead to conflicts and blue screen crashes. If you need help finding driver updates for a certain device, please start a thread in Drivers - Windows 7 Forums instead of using software. Driver updates are not always necessary and some updates can actually decrease system stability rather than increase it, so it is usually better not to update unless a device or its driver is causing problems with the system. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

    For the USB device:

    AppGuard as anti-executable.
Automatic scans with HitmanPro daily and MBAM weekly.
    Pretty light and tight setup.
I would still recommend a realtime protection program like Microsoft Security Essentials. MSE is very lightweight, as well.

Did you build the system, or was it built for you? Any idea what motherboard was used in terms of the model?

Use the tutorial for USB Driver - General Fix for Problems to resolve the USB issues.
I have followed the tutorial point by point but the problem icon remained in the Device Manager window. I then uninstalled it too, but on the next reboot it reappeared.

I would still recommend a realtime protection program like Microsoft Security Essentials.
    noted, thanks

    built for me

I am not quite getting your question here. I am aware that there are different motherboard model like P5K Deluxe or P5K-E, but mine is a standard P5K.

On a different note, earlier I had two further BSODs practically one after another:
    5th IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    6th MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
they occurred on both cases as I selected 4-5 large zipped files and started 7-Zip to unzip them.
I have attached the relevant minidump files as well a report created with BlueScreenView.

Because of the MEMORY_MANAGEMENT issue I run Memtest86+ for over 11 hours overnight, 6 full passes, but there were no errors.

Thank you for the detailed information. I really appreciate it. Your motherboard may not be supported by Windows 7; that is not to say it will definitely conflict with Windows 7, just that the ASUS site does not list it as an OS that it supports.

Run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor - Download - Microsoft Windows and let us know the results.

You had a crash caused by your StorageCraft software. The installation appears to be corrupt. Recommend re-installing. If you continue to get crashes, remove the software to test or contact the StorageCraft company. I am unable to find what software this is associated with because it does not appear in your program groups. You may have already removed it.

Your other crashes indicate memory and hardware related issues. May also be Windows corruption. I also wonder whether your motherboard can support an SSD given that it is questionable whether it will support Windows 7. You may consider upgrading your hardware if you want to continue using an SSD. SSDs typically require a BIOS version from 2011 or more recent, and your most recent BIOS update is 2008... Does your system have the same problems when Windows 7 is installed on an HDD?

    I appreciate your help, writhziden.

On several forums the P5K is mentioned as running well with Win 7, but I confess I have had your same thoughts.

Run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor - Download - Microsoft Windows and let us know the results.
Have done so, everything is compatible

You had a crash caused by your StorageCraft software.
I have uninstalled it, but I would need a replacement (ShadowProtect) as I use it for image backup.

Does your system have the same problems when Windows 7 is installed on an HDD?
I installed Win 7 for the first time on my other SSD (then new) GSkill FM-25S2I-64GBFII and it run flawlessy for about 18 months. I then had to send it in for an RMA and that's when I bought the Samsung 830 and reinstalled Win 7, the BSODs started around 6 weeks later.

You may consider upgrading your hardware if you want to continue using an SSD.
I may have to do that, having tried an SSD it makes such a difference.

Any suggestions for an upgrade? I guess at a minimum would have to be motherboard + cpu + ram ...

There are some free alternatives for backing up:

However, I mentioned your ShadowProtect software may be fine and may have become corrupted. An uninstall and then re-install could possibly fix the issue.

How did you move Windows 7 to your current SSD from the previous? Was it a backup image, or did you do a clean install?

Will try to do again once the BSODs are sorted out, at the moment I can image from outside windows with a CD, it's just less convenient

Clean install, as I always do

Alright, see how things go for a few days and then post back how the system is responding. Also post back if you need any help.
