Full Retail. The computer came with a Windows 7 update from Best Buy.
The age of the system hardware is about 3 years.
The age of the OS installation is 3 years as well.

Security Software: ??? Recommend either of these two:
- Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows
- Good and Free system security combination.
Update your security software after installing it and run a full scan of the system for any malware/viruses.
Your crash files were rather inconclusive and may very well be due to the problem devices listed above. Do the above steps, and we will proceed from there.
The security system that I use is Norton Security Suite. It came with my Xfinity subscrip. The model of my laptop is HP Pavilion dv4-1435dx Entertainment Notebook PC.
I will run an update and full scan on my computer. And update you on the results.
The full system scan revealed no threats. Free space was acquired from clearing up Temporary internet files and tracking cookies were resolved. The system was also backed up. Nothing stood out from the full scan that needed attention.

Hey the anti-virus update worked! My computer didn't have the blue screen when I shut down. I've shut down twice and didn't see the blue screen. The anti-virus program found 5 Tracking cookies which it deleted. Could that have been the problem?
Highly unlikely it was the cookies. Did you also happen to install the drivers I mentioned in my previous post. If you did, I would think that more likely to have solved the problem.
It is possible updating Norton resolved the problem, though. Sometimes antivirus software becomes corrupted or has a bad set of definition updates that interfere with the system.

You were right I noticed the blue screen popping up again once I shut down my computer. I just downloaded both of the drivers you suggested. Do you think the issue could be that a Windows update was incompatible with my drivers?
Windows Updates do not generally cause problems. There have been rare instances when they did, but none recently. I suspect the drivers just became corrupted over time due to any number of things: improper shutdowns, power outages, normal hard disk corruption that usually occurs over a month of usage without running regular disk checks, etc.
I've downloaded the drivers and installed them. I tend to get more normal shutdowns but on occasion I get the blue screen with the same error as posted above. Do you have any other recommendations?
