I checked Windows for corruption - no files corrupted.

With this Hitachi DFT I've got a problem. I don't know why, but at the point with license and buttons to agree or disagree the keyboard stops working and I can't do anything. Please, help!

Check your BIOS settings. Make sure keyboard and USB support are turned on. If that does not work, try SeaTools for Windows, or if you want to run it outside Windows, you can try SeaTools for DOS.

If you use SeaTools instead of DFT, run the short and long tests with it.

I used Sea Tools - long test, short, smart and so on - all passed with no errors.

That's good news. I think it is time for a fresh install after backing up important files. Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

I tried fresh install once and it didn't help much. But OK, I will try when my PC comes back from the repairs I'm taking it to tomorrow. Only if they won't help, of course.

BTW, I got a series of BSODs just minutes ago. Minidumps attatched. There was something about MEMORY MANAGEMENT and DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL.

You have a 0x124 hardware bugcheck. Your other crashes would indicate the hardware fault is likely due to memory. It could still be a driver, but 70-80% of the time, 0x124 does mean hardware. It is probably good that you are taking it in to have it serviced...

Here is what I normally recommend for this crash (you do not have to do these since you are having it serviced, but it may be good information):

       Warning
Before you proceed with the following, answer these two questions: Are you still under warranty? Does your warranty allow you to open up the machine to check hardware? If you are unsure of the answers to these questions, contact your system manufacturer. WARNING: The steps that follow can void your warranty!!!

For your hardware stop 0x124 crash, read through Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try and use the following hardware checks to supplement that link.

    • If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

    • Monitor temperatures during the following tests.
Use the following programs to monitor the temperatures.

    • Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).

For Part 3: If You Have Errors: If you swap any memory components, follow these steps for ESD safety:
      1. Shut down and turn off your computer.
      2. Unplug all power supplies to the computer (AC Power then battery for laptops, AC power for desktops)
      3. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and ensure all power drains from components.
      4. Make sure you are grounded by using proper grounding techniques, i.e. work on an anti-static workbench, anti-static desk, or an anti-static pad. Hold something metallic while touching it to the anti-static surface, or use an anti-static wristband to attach to the anti-static material while working.

Once these steps have been followed, it is safe to remove and replace components within your computer.

Remember to read closely through Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try for the crash.

OK, thanks for all the help.

I'm taking the PC back to the shop next week, because I didn't have time today. I will post something when it comes back. Hopefully, it will be OK. I wonder why it started crashing when I plugged the new card in.

BTW, I've taken the Radeon also for the repairs and the guys at the shop told me that "the socket on my motherboard can be uncompatible with this card". Is it possible?

My mobo is MSI 760GM-P33 and the card is Sapphire Radeon HD 6770 1GB GDDR5.

I do not see how it would be incompatible. The graphics card requires a PCI-E X16 lane graphics slot available, which the MSI board supplies... I would recommend getting a second opinion by calling MSI and/or Sapphire before taking the word of the representative at your local shop.

My PC is at the shop now and I'm taking it back tomorrow. When I handed it in, they've told me the problem might be connected with my router. Is that one a good guess?

I would be surprised if these were router based problems. It's a guess, but I wouldn't say it was a good one. Probably a below average guess...
