Not a BSOD - Unable to get into Sleep

Hello all,

I am new here and i do apologize if this is not the correct location for this error. I couldn t find another section in the forums where this issue could be reported, however, feel free to move it wherever you consider it more appropriate.

My major question is to identify what this means:
USB\ROOT_HUB\4&14d59eda&0

After running a powercfg -lastwake this is the Instance Path keeping my PC awake.

I google it and I can t find any info to figure out what device or driver is that.

This issue persists also if I disconnect any possible USB device (mouse and Keyb included) and i try to put the system to sleep, it will wake up immediately back.

Any help or suggestion is very welcome. I do apologize again if this is not the correct area, please redirect me.

In addition to the helpful post by James:

• Start with USB Driver - General Fix for Problems to resolve the USB issues. Also, USB ports can sometimes enter a safe power state to protect the system from power surges due to USB devices. To reset the USB ports to a nominal power state:
  
  1. Shut down and turn off the computer.
     
  2. Unplug the computer from the wall or surge protector (then remove the battery if it is a laptop).
     
  3. "Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station, disconnect
     cables to printers or devices such as external monitors, USB memory sticks or SD cards, headset or external speakers, mouse or auxiliary keyboard, turn off WIFI and Bluetooth wireless devices." (Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues HP Pavilion dv5000 Notebook PC series - HP Customer Care (United States - English))
     
  4. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This closes the circuit and ensures all
     power from components is drained to clear the software connections between the BIOS
     and hardware and clear any corruption in the temporary memory.
     
  5. (If it is a laptop, plug the battery back into the laptop and then) Plug the computer back into the wall. Do not reconnect any unnecessary peripherals; monitor, keyboard,
     and mouse should suffice and be the only peripherals reconnected.
     
  6. Turn it on to reinitialize the software connections between the BIOS and hardware

Your suggestion is very useful, but I have no "unidentified Items" on my Device manager. I do not think i can apply you solution in this case, do I?

That is also a very interesting piece of support and i thank you very much. In my situation tho I have no USB errors. All of my devices are using updated drivers and are working fine. i guess I cannot really apply the "genera fix for problems" because i have no device I can identify as a problem.

On the other end the "Reset port to nominal power state" really sounds interesting. There I have a question:
What point 6 really means?? Is that just a fancy way to say "reboot your computer" ??

If you can explain that, i will try that procedure first of all.

For the USB fix, if you do not know which device might be causing the problem, I recommend only plugging in your mouse and keyboard if they are USB devices. Leave all other USB devices removed. Then proceed through the steps.

For step 6. of the power state reset, that just means that once you have power connected again, turn the computer on. It will be off as you go through the other steps, and for some of the steps, all power sources will be removed, so you will need to turn it on again once it has power again. :)

That solution resetting the USB power ports was 100% succesful ! I didn t even had a clue about that method, you made my day my man !!!

Great job ! Now my system goes to sleep as was used to do with no more power conflicts!
