Yeah, you should tinker with the UPnP/SSDP services later when you do not have time-critical work to be done that relies on networked devices like your printer. Fortunately the services should be able to easily turn back on when the need arises.
Btw, one thing I forgot to mention is that SSDP and UPnP services should be set to Manual before you restart the PC after disabling them, otherwise they'll restart themselves at Windows startup. Right-click and go to properties for each one to set them from Automatic start type to Manual or even Disabled if desired.
As for a mobo, I'll have to look into it.
