Various BSODs, safe mode boot stops at ATIpcie64.sys

Kept getting BSODs that seemed to indicate malfunctioning ATI (onboard) video driver, tried everything I could think of to update/straighten that out to no avail. So I installed a 3rd party card. Everything seemed fine for a few days, but then got a stop 024. Perfmon showed everything was good (only thing of any note was that Kaspersky A/V wasn't recognized).
I also have been getting this strange little Warning box at the upper L corner of the screen whenever I reboot. It's empty and only shows whatever was on the desktop at the time it loaded. My attempt at attaching a screenshot of it failed, but someone here hopefully knows what I'm talking about.

When I tried to run chkdsk again, and when I rebooted it did finally get past loading the driver AtiPcie64.sys. However, it wouldn't then run chkdsk....
Sure would appreciate any help, folks!

    21 memory dumps run
    9 different BSOD error codes
    8 different causes blamed

This appears to be a pattern that says it's a hardware issue.
    Hardware issues are caused by:
    - borked (broken) hardware
    - overclocking
    - compatibility issues (such as AMD OverDrive)
    - low-level driver problems (such as corruptions with Kaspersky)
    - malware

You have encryption software that dates from 2009. Please uninstall it while we're troubleshooting.

Your chipset drivers have drivers that date from 2009. Please update them from the AMD website: Global Provider of Innovative Graphics, Processors and Media Solutions | AMD

Your nVidia drivers date from 2009, please update them from the nVidia website: World Leader in Visual Computing Technologies | NVIDIA

Your ATI drivers are still installed, please uninstall them because of this:
AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center. This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems.
Please uninstall all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program
Then, download and install a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from http://www.ati.com (in the upper right corner of the page)
    - Select the "Custom" installation option and don't let it install AMD OverDrive or the VISION Engine Control Center (if present)
Then use the ATI uninstall manager to uninstall the Catalyst Control Center (CCC). This is a separate issue and isn't required for the AMD OverDrive removal.

If the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem, open Device Manager, select the "View" item.
Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.
Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Uninstall". Reboot for changes to take affect.
Sometimes the driver remains and continues to cause BSOD's. If this is the case for you, post back and we'll give further instructions for safely removing it.

If overclocking, please stop. Remove the overclock and return the system to stock/standard values while we're troubleshooting. Once the system is stable again, feel free to resume the overclocking.
Your klbg.sys driver dates from 2008. It's your Kaspersky Lab Boot Guard Driver. Please:
    - download a free antivirus for testing purposes from the list here: Free AntiVirus
    - uninstall the Kaspersky from your system. If it asks, uninstall it completely.
    - install the free antivirus and update it immediately.
    - then perform a full system scan to ensure that no infections are present.
    - monitor for further BSOD's

The following info is just FYI, I've already addressed the issues that I saw in the above paragraphs

    - Further info on BSOD error messages available at: http://www.carrona.org/bsodindx.html
    - Info on how to troubleshoot BSOD's (DRAFT): http://www.carrona.org/userbsod.html

Last week I paused Kaspersky and ran AVG's paid (trial) version. Annoyed me too, because it deleted two old storage files w/o asking first, that were probably no real threat. Other than that it found nothing.
I thought I'd already updated most of those drivers, guess it BSOD'd when I was working on it. I installed Kaspersky Pure last month, that driver probably came with the first vs. I ever bought. How do I remove/update it?

The only thing I see in Programs with regard to AMD stuff is AMD Catalyst Install Mgr, do I uninstall that?

    John,
    Excellent, clear, detailed instructions.

    I'm very impressed.

I know that you don't need them but rep points coming.

Use the Catalyst Install Manager to uninstall all the ATI stuff.
Then download a fresh set of the ATI drivers and then use this link to install ONLY the drivers: ATI video cards - DRIVER ONLY installation procedure

All this crap makes me go just bonkers. I'm not sure going on vacation helped much. I don't think I'll even touch this for about another month! As it is now, I neutralized of a couple things in Startup that seem to be keeping the BSODs away, for the moment. Or, at least it apparently does keep the empty, little 'warning' box from cropping up whenever I reboot.

While I still have a way to go, so far, so much - I thank you, Mr. John Crankypants.

Glad to hear that you've stopped the BSOD's for now.
Post back if you need further assistance.
