Unexpected i/o error, error 0xc00000e9. How can i fix it?

    Hello,

I have a Toshiba Satellite C660 and it is failing to start up. A few days ago i was on my laptop and i turned it off, the next day when i turned it on it came up with an option to chose " launch start up repair" or "start windows normally" but when i chose either the same error message appears after 2-3 minuets of waiting.

    The error message says:

"Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer.

This error can be caused by unplugging a removable storage device such as an external USB drive while the devise is in use, or faulty hardware such as a hard drive or CD- ROM drive that is failing. Make sure any removable storage is properly connected and then restart your computer.

If you continue to receive this message, contact the hardware manufacturer.

    Status: oxc00000e9

Info: An unexpected I/O error has occurred
    ."

I have looked everywhere for a solution and cannot find one, please will somebody help me fix this problem?

I/O errors like this are most often due to the hard drive.
