BSOD Random 0x00000007A - No Dump files created

Guys,

I have an Acer laptop brand new and have been having random crashes since day 1. Came with Windows 7 Home Basic.
Specs are:
Core i3 2350M
2GB DD3 Ram
500GB HDD
nVidia 630M 1GB

I have used the SF Diagnostic tool and attached the files, but there are not memory dump files as i have tried several times to enable them but the system never creates them. The crash happens randomly and is not associated with Game or any specific application.

I am using Kaspersky Pure as antivirus and i am sure its not causing any problem as i have been using it on other systems and laptops.

The error message you highlight simply say the last shutdown was unexpected. We need the DMPS

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.
Please attach the DMP files to your next post not to post one.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. If empty (or non existent) please look in the following folders. C:\windows (the dmp should be called memory.dmp), and C:\windows\LiveKernelReports\Watchdog.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

Hi,

Thanks you for taking time out and replying. I am not overclocking anything and laptop is bare stock. The problem is since day 1. For first 1-2 weeks i thought it must be windows update problem as i updated the day i got the laptop but it seems there is some other problem. The BSOD occurs randomly. For last 20+ days it never occurred and laptop worked flawlessly.

I have enabled the crash MINIDUMP files but it does not create any files. I have tried Small memory dumps / kernel Dumps. It fails to create when it crashes.

MEMORY DUMPS - REQUIREMENTS

Enable automatic management of the Paging file
WIN + PAUSE/BREAK key combo |

If you get a crazy message from Win 7 about your paging file being too small, then just ignore the message since we have already made sure that the paging file is set to be managed by Win 7.

ASSURE THAT CCLEANER IS NOT DELETING DUMPS
CCLEANER | Cleaner icon | Windows tab | System category |
Uncheck Memory Dumps
· WINDOWS ERROR REPORTING SERVICE must NOT be disabled!
· WIN | Services.msc | Enter
· Under Name, locate Windows Error Reporting Service
· If Status is not Started, then
Right-click on Windows Error Reporting Service |choose START
· If Startup Type is not Automatic, then
Right-click on Windows Error Reporting Service |
choose Properties | General tab |
set Startup type to Automatic
· Close Services.msc (I like to use ALT + F4)

After a crash, the minidump file will be in C:\Windows\Minidump

after than then go to a command prompt and run:
wmic RecoverOS get AutoReboot,DebugFilePath,DebugInfoType,^
ExpandedDebugFilePath,ExpandedMiniDumpDirectory,KernelDumpOnly,^
MiniDumpDirectory,Name,OverwriteExistingDebugFile,SendAdminAlert,^
WriteDebugInfo,WriteToSystemLog /format:list > %userprofile%\desktop\DumpInfo.txt

If you prefer, you can paste that into a new file and call it dmpinfo.bat and the run that.

Either way you will end up with a file called dumpinfo.txt on your desktop.
Upload that .txt file.

No Kernel Memory Dump files being produced upon BSOD?

For dumps to be produced. . .
▪ Page file must be on OS drive
▪ Page file base allocation size must be > than installed physical RAM
▪ Windows Error Reporting (WER) system service should be set to MANUAL
▪ Set page file to system managed, OS drive

Set System Crash/ Recovery Settings to "Kernel Memory Dump" - this will produce. . .
--> a Full Kernel Memory Dump - c:\windows\memory.dmp
--> a Mini Kernel dump c:\windows\minidump

The Full Kernel is overwritten each BSOD; a new mini kernel dump is created w/ different name for each BSOD
