    BSOD with intensive/moderate CPU usage 0x0000124


    Is Windows 7 . . .
    - x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? x64
    - the original installed OS on the system? No
    - an OEM or full retail version? Retail

    - What is the age of system (hardware)? Less than 1 year
    - What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) Aprox. 4 months

    I've been having some BSOD issues, mostly 0x0000124.

    I tried updating my BIOS but the problem persists.

    Ran memtest for 1 hour with no apparent error.

    Got a BSOD when running prime95 (it was not 0x0000124 but I think it was hardware related)

    Always get BSOD when doing some intensive encoding in Sony Vegas (and it's my default way to test for BSOD)

    Note that I was using just 1 DIMM of RAM when making the report .zip

    You have a hardware error (0x124). Read the following thread and see if any of it's fixes work.
    Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try

    Among the fixes in the above thread are a few stress tests. Before you do any of the other fixes mentioned in the thread, you should run these stress tests:

    Test your RAM using Memtest86+. Let it run until 6-8 passes have completed or errors have been found.
    RAM - Test with Memtest86+

    Test your hardware using Prime95. Watch your machine's temps and stop the test if it starts to overheat. Let it run for up to 2 hours or until errors have been found.

    Test your hardware using Prime95. Watch your machine's temps and stop the test if it starts to overheat. Let it run for up to 2 hours or until errors have been found.

    Weird enough, I changed the "Auto" settings of the CPU Vcore to 2 steps up (Something like 0,01 I think) and, with the Sony Vegas Death Stress Test, IT WORKED.


    I'm gonna do some more testing with prime95 to call this solved. Should I see more problems I will post them.

    Should I notify Asus that their "Auto" settings are not set up optimal?

    That's an unusual but pleasant surprise. Post back if you have any more BSOD's.

    As for notifying ASUS, you could send them an email. However, remember that it may just be something unique to your system rather than a problem with all of their products.
