Frequent freezes / BSOD when playing games or video, caused by wininit
Hello, recently after installing Diablo III I noticed that my performance began to dip a little bit - a few extra seconds here and there on load time, but nothing major. It got worse over the span of a week, until finally the computer freezes within about twenty to forty minutes of graphics card usage such as playing a game or watching a video. Simply idling causes the computer to freeze or crash after about an hour, even when booting in safe mode. The most common result is that the screen will freeze, with a loud buzzing noise looping in the audio until I manually reset the computer, if left to its own devices sometimes it resolves as a BSOD.
Nothing is overclocked, no temperature readings go above 45 degrees even during times of heavy stress, I've removed all the dust and verified all components are connected correctly.
The OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, OEM
The entire rig was custom built a year ago, with Windows 7 installed a year ago to an SSD and a secondary HD for storage. Neither drive has been reformatted. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much.
