Windows 7 64 Bit constantly freezing

I have an E-machines EL1358-53 desktop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit OS.

The system seems to freeze up (no blue screen, just not responding), mostly when Windows boots up, or working on files through the network. I have tried to restore to previous date, and also wiped out hard drive and re installed windows. I do not really know what to do at this point, nor do i want to spend the money out of my budget to buy a new desktop.

I know this info will not be enough for anyone to give me an appropriate response, so what else do I need to post on here to help anyone out with my problem?

    Thank you in advance.

Actually, I can give you a response based on the information given.

    Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7

       Warning
Some of the steps require that you open up your system, so before doing any of the re-seating and connection checking steps, answer these two questions: Are you still under warranty? Does your warranty allow you to open up the machine to check hardware? If you are unsure of the answers to these questions, contact your system manufacturer. WARNING: Some steps in that tutorial involve removing the system case or system panels and can void your warranty!!!

The steps specifically related to the warning are steps 8, 10, and 11.

If the above steps do not resolve your problem, please follow the https://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html to provide us with your event viewer logs. Those logs can help determine system errors and application errors that may indicate why your system is freezing.

writhziden, i have already done the hard disk check. seems like every time it comes up with new errors. the computer is not under the warranty anymore (it expired 2 days before this problem started happening, coincidence?)

I would recommend running SeaTools long and short tests. The links to SeaTools can be found in the HD Diagnostics link in the tutorial I gave in my previous post. Just in case, though:
