BSOD on startup c000021a {fatal system error}
Hey fellas,
i restarted my compure about an hour ago for it to complete a windows update, on the logout screen and showed: installing updates, it jumped from 10% to 20 and thirty and the skipped to shutting down. when starting back up again i got a BSOD saying: STOP: c000021a {fatal system error} The Verification of a knownDLL failed. system process terminated unexpectedly the system has been shut down. in the startup repair i get: startup repair cannot repair this computer automaitcally. Problem Signature: Problem event name : StartupRepairOffline Problem signature01 : 6.1.7600.16385 Problem signature02 : 6.1.7600.16385 Problem signature03 : unkowen Problem signature04 : 21200194 Problem signature05 : AutoFailover Problem signature06 : 2 Problem signature07 : NoRootCause OS version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1 Local ID: 1033 my parts are: i7 2600k @3.4 asus p8z68 v pro / gen3 g.skill ripjaws x 8GB corsair 750TX OCZ Vertex 3 120GB for some reason i cant find how to enter safe mode on this mobo (its a new computer) ive hit F8 and it just takes me to a boot priority. F10 11 12 arnt for safe mode either. ive googled and read around a bit but don't fully understand what this is and how to fix it, i would very much appreciate the help. cheers |

As I recall on an Asus mobo, you've gotta hit F8 at just the right moment (immediately before the Windows splash screen shows up). Hitting it too early will dump you into the boot device menu popup.
Safe Mode is the key here. If unable to get into Safe Mode, then there's not a whole bunch that we can do. The "fix' will be finding the missing DLL and replacing it (to see if that's the only problem). Also, please try the free, bootable diagnostics here: Initial Hardware Diagnostics Especially try the hard drive and malware procedures.
