Yep, those three modules are all exactly the same. I am not surprised the system is more stable with those three installed and the different module removed. Even if modules are supposed to be identical, often buying the at different times results in slight discrepancies. Electronic components within a module may be upgraded or replaced, so the modules are no longer identical. Sometimes, even the voltage requirements of the modules will change as companies change manufacturing techniques.

For the driver updates, are those updates available through your motherboard support site?

I do not trust driver update software to tell me what drivers I need to update. The software often finds updates for hardware similar to but not exactly the same as that which is actually installed on the system being updated. If you install drivers for similar hardware but not the same hardware, it can cause system stability to decrease rather than increase.

There is a chipset update on ASUS that is more up to date as it appears all of my drivers are from 2011 and there are 2012 updates on ASUS web site. It just says chipset update though and does not tell you what exactly it is updating. There are also BIOS updates more recent then mine that say improves system stability.

The chipset update I would recommend. That is the lowest level driver so all your hardware will work more reliably.

As for the BIOS update, I would not recommend it unless you continue to have problems. See how the system responds for a week or two. If it is stable for that period of time, there is probably no reason to flash the BIOS. BIOS flashing is risky, so I try to avoid suggesting it unless problems indicated it is needed. Even then, it is best to flash outside of Windows if your system is unstable to prevent an interrupted flash from occurring due to a crash.

Yes I will probably do the MB driver update but I want to wait to see if I have any more problems before I do. System is a lot more stable now (explorer crashes = none). However my video started acting up but differently this time. Instead of getting like static lines flickering across a small part of the screen quickly and going away and only happening every so often. Today it would be as an example the top left part of my browser would get out of shape, almost twisted or I would get little dots here and there. My friend said the on board video is garbage so I installed my Geforce GTX 550 ti vid card and so far the problem has cleared up. Thanks for you help. It will be a real pain trying to replace the bad memory stick with those heat spacers on them. I will have to try and pry them off and probably ruin one and then have to buy two. Would it matter if 2 ram has heat spacers and the other 2 do not??? Because these things I would rather not buy again. Makes it so difficult to see the make of the ram etc.

I don't have heat spacers on my RAM, and it really depends on whether you think you need them. I believe they are typically used by people who overclock their systems and need the RAM to dispel heat more because it is overclocked and running hot with the higher voltage. What was your reasoning for buying the heat spacers before? Was it recommended by your motherboard manual?

Also, if the system is stable, I would also advise against doing the driver update. I know I originally said to, but in retrospect, I always say there is no reason to update drivers unless you are actually having problems. They generally increase or maintain stability, but every once in a while, a driver update will have bugs in it that cause decreased stability and other issues with the system.

No I do not overclock but the sales lady talked me into buying them to keep my memory cool. The draw back to that like I said is you pretty much have to pry them off (just found out) to look at the ram as they are glued on.
Yes I will wait on installing new MB drivers just the same I also downloaded newer drives for the Vid Card and newer divers for my monitor but will not install them unless I have problems. I wonder if thee is a program out there that can tell you the make etc of your ram ?? (KINGSTON)

CPU-Z tells the make. To get the model, you could try

    or

Also good steps not to install the drivers unless you have problem. Nice work! :)

I tried the brand new AIDA64 Extreme edition, what a load of crap that is. It does not even recognize my motherboard. So it can't give me all the proper motherboard info and what is contained in the motherboard = useless.
