Go through the steps for Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7
WarningSome of the steps require that you open up your system, so before doing any of the re-seating and connection checking steps, answer these two questions: Are you still under warranty? Does your warranty allow you to open up the machine to check hardware? If you are unsure of the answers to these questions, contact your system manufacturer. WARNING: Some steps in that tutorial involve removing the system case or system panels and can void your warranty!!!
The steps specifically related to the warning are steps 8, 10, and 11.
For your application issues, if the above do not resolve them:
- Uninstall Chrome, download a fresh installer, and then install Chrome again with the fresh installer. To uninstall: Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Uninstall a program
- Event ID 10 is logged in the Application log after you install Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 gives steps for resolving the Event ID 10 error.

You're welcome. What steps helped, exactly?
Once you are confident the problem is solved, let us know what solved it (if possible), and you may also mark the thread solved.
