    Bluescreens some time after Standby

    Hello,

I always get bluescreens some time after returning from standby, without any recognizable system (not depending on cpu usage or anything), always about 10 mins afterwards.

One dmp file (plenty more to deliver if needed ) is zipped and attached...

    Thanks in advance

    My System:
    Toshiba Satellite A210-131
    AMD Turion X2, 2x 1.8GHz, x86
    2GB RAM
    ATI Radeon Mobiliy HD 2400
Windows 7 Professional (before I used Vista Home, no problems there)
    all drivers updated

This thread seems to address the same problem:

Thanks, sorry, guess I didn't check too well for existing topics...

Will try the stuff posted there first... But it would be nice if someone could check my dmp nevertheless.

A STOP 0x124 error is usually a hardware issue - but can be caused by incompatible drivers (and some of us believe that it can be caused by corrupted drivers)

This error is generated using the Windows Hardware Error Architecture by another component within your system (not by Windows) - usually the CPU. As such, the message is difficult to interpret - I have not had any success with attempting to read them.

There is an older Toshiba driver on your system - which could be the cause (but it's just guesswork on my part). It's this one: TVALZ_O.SYS Thu Oct 05 09:22:13 2006
It's some sort of Toshiba Common Driver - beyond that I couldn't find any information. Updating that driver to the latest Win7 version may help.

I'd also suggest running the free Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor tool from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Finally, I'd suggest updating your graphics and storage drivers to the latest Win7 versions - as both are known to cause issues with hibernation/sleep in Win7.

    Here's the dump file analysis:

    Thanks,
the Toshiba driver is part of the so called "value added package", and it is up to date, no later version available. I updated the graphics driver, still no solution. The Upgrade Advisor didn't find anything, no problem there.

When I checked through all the system errors, I found some connections to the RAM (would fit to the error occuring only after standby, not after hibernation), so maybe my RAM dies a slow death... Will try changing the modules next today.

    Edit:
Okay, different RAM didn't help anything, so it should still be alive.

I'd suspect that it's the Toshiba software (because the driver is from before Win7 was released in beta). Try uninstalling it.

Other than that, I'd try seeing if you can locate different Windows 7 drivers for all of your components. In particular I'd be concerned about Win7 drivers for your storage controller. I have an issue with Sleep/Hibernate on my desktop that's due to using Vista storage drivers (from a bug report that I filed with Microsoft).

There's essentially not much difference between Standby and Hibernation (IMO). The system just loads the stuff in the hiberfil.sys file into RAM when resuming from hibernation.

Okay, I uninstalled the Toshiba package, and after having another bluescreen while checking with the "verifier" method from the other topic, I changed Avira Antivir to Kapersky, I like it better anyways.
And up to now, system has been running for more than an hour, so I guess problem solved... Thanks again guys!

Edit: No, problem still exists, some time tonight the pc crashed again...

Please turn Driver Verifier OFF and then monitor for BSOD's.
Driver Verifier stresses out your drivers and is supposed to cause BSOD's when it's used properly.

    I only used it once.

Anyways, I finally updated my storage controller driver to a 7 compatible, and it worked for over 11 hours after standby without BSOD, so at least there was an improvement... But it would be really cool if it could just work

Are there any things I can still do except for returning to Vista (which I won't, I will just don't use standby...)?
