BSOD BCC code 124 mainly playing Battlefield 3

    Hello everyone.
Since last October i have been getting crashes with bcc code 124 mainly while playing Battlefield 3 but in many cases when on desktop doing nothing or watching a video in youtube. Many times the computer just restarts without a BSOD.

    My set up is:
    M/B: Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD5 rev. 1
    Memory: Corsair 4X2GB modules CMX4GX3M2A1600C9
    Processor: Intel i7 860 @ 2.80
Bios ver.: F13b (latest beta posted on the official site)
PSU: Corsair TX 750 (750W) enthusiast series
Video card: Sapphire HD 5870 1GB vram running with the latest drivers form ati (12.4 driver)
Sound: on board realtek running R2.70 driver
    OS: windows 7 64bit
Disk drives: 1. WESTERN DIGITAL Velociraptor 150GB WD1500HLFS, 2. WESTERN DIGITAL 250GB WD2500YS, both set up to run in ide/native sata mode.

I have formatted (through the installation dvd) my hard drive five or six times and reinstalled the OS but the problem still persists.
The only "overclocking" that i do is use xmp profile for my memory.
I contacted Gigabyte about the bios and they said that i should use f13b and that it is as stable as all the other releases.
My system is dated since January 2010. The only addition that I have made since then is last summer that I added 4GB of extra memory to get to 8GB

    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Please remove any overclocking (including the xmp profile) as it will affect our troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system is stable again.

Running the last 10 memory dumps......

Only 64 updates since SP1 - most systems have 75 to 130. Please get all available Windows Updates.

Please run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics
I'm particularly interested in the memory test, Prime95 and the video tests

Also, please monitor temps using this free utility: HWiNFO, HWiNFO32 & HWiNFO64 - Hardware Information and Analysis Tools

The following info is just FYI, I've already addressed the issues that I saw in the above paragraphs

First of all thank you for your quick reply.
I have rum memtest86 4.20 in the past with no errors.
I will run video card diagnostics and update OS and other hardware and report back.
    :)

Just finished the furmark test with score 3151 (i don't know what it means!)
Installed all the available updates through Microsoft update.
    Updated the usb 3 drivers.
I have recently uninstalled eset smart security and replaced it with microsoft security essentials for testing purposes.
All drivers are up to date.

For FurMark you just monitor the screen for issues (strange artifacts) and you watch the temps on the video card (if they hit 100║C - then we start worrying.

Beyond that, finish up the other tests. Then we wait for further BSOD's.

During the furmark test my video hit 88C. While playing bf3 with the one side of my case open the card hits 81C (I used hwmonitor for that).
Last week I ordered a cooler for my VGA card because of the high temps during gaming. I got accelero xtreme 5870 which I will install in due time. I plan to remove and thoroughly clean all the parts of my system when the cooler arrives.

And another thing that I forgot to ask you:
All those 3rd party drivers that are present in the dump files are responsible for the bsods?
I don't know how to read a dump file so please excuse my ignorance.

Another BSOD while playing BF3. Before that I had two sudden restarts without a bsod.
I am attaching the new files!

BSOD analysis (as we do it) is based on ruling out the most common causes - one by one - until we fix the system.

3rd party drivers are the most common reason for BSOD's (followed by hardware problems, and then by Windows problems). The difficulty is that there's a lot of overlap here, and that the offending driver won't always show up in the dump files.

We still haven't decided if this is due to 3rd party drivers - or if it's due to hardware. Have you finished all of the diagnostics? What were the results of Prime95 and the CPU stress tests?

This memory dump appears to have all the 3rd party drivers fixed and none seem to be outdated. This increases the likelyhood that this is a hardware problem.

System Event Viewer logfile shows critical errors - usually due to hardware also.

If you've finished the hardware tests and this is still happening, try this:
Open the case up and point a house fan into the case - see if that lengthens the times between BSOD's. If it does, then it's an overheating problem.

If it doesn't, then you're stuck with the hardware stripdown procedure that I suggest here: Sysnative Forums

    Good luck!

    Hello.
    It's been a long time.
I had some major family/health issues that kept me from posting all this time.
Here is what I tried all this time:
I installed a new vga cooler and while playing BF3 my card temp dropped from 81C to 40C. All the other temperatures are well within limits eg cpu 40-45C while playing (I refer to playing because it is the most hardware intensive job that I do!)
All the cpu and ram tests run fine without any problems or bad reports.
Yesterday I performed a clean installation of windows 7 x64 ultimate and i installed all windows updates, the latest official drivers for my vga card and for my sound card. Before enabling aero i tried to update my windows experience index and as soon as it finished i had my first bsod 0x124. The only other program running was eset smart security 5.
Prior to that I had disabled from bios all the unnecessary components like usb 3. iee1934, ide channels etc.
I guess that it is a m/b problem and i think that i will take my pc to a local repair shop to find out what it is
And another thing: I had originally bought my pc with two sticks of 2gb each of memory. One year later I bought another two stick os 2gb each as an upgrade. Recently i found out that they were not exactly identical. they had different rev numbers. I quote the answer that corsair gave me when I askedQ
"We really don’t’ recommend mixing and matching sets of memory even if they have exact same part # or even spec. We cannot guarantee one set of memory will work with another as these sets are not tested this way. This is going to be a 50/50 chance due to some motherboard will let you do it and some boards are just pickier than others and this is the reason why DRAM vendors would sell them in kits of a specific capacity. Also, each kit would be produce earlier/later than other, meaning BOM (Build of Materials) are going to be different from a kit that was built previously and a kit with the same spec that is currently in the market, this may cause the system to behave erratically when paired together. Best would be is to get a set of RAM that has the total capacity that you really prefer"
Any new ideas or recommendations would me appreciated although i bought myself a new arctic cooling mx-4 thermal paste and i am ready to take my pc apart clean it and put back together again! (unless i start throwing it piece by piece out the window!)
