BSOD Loop, nothing works and is in a constant loop
Hi everyone, I have a Sony VAIO vpcEB4L1E.chk Laptop, with a 500 GB HDD , with a Intel core i3-380m processor / 2.53 GHz,with 4GB RAM, running on Windows 7 home premium 32 bit.
Until recently the laptop has been working fine, but all of a sudden it's stopped working. In its simpliest form, the laptop starts up, then it comes to a screen that has two options: Repair Windows using recommended settings, or start windows normally. When selecting start windows normally, the "starting windows" screen comes up, then all of a sudden a BSOD flashes momentarily on the screen and does the whole procedure again. I can't access any of the system restore options, as it loads up the windows 7 background and does nothing else.
I've tried all of the advanced system options after pressing F8 and they all do the same as the normal cycle. When trying to boot into the 3 safe mode options, I get a list of drivers that end in these two:
system/drivers/avgidseh.sys
system/drivers/avgrkx64.sys
I've also tried booting Windows from a normal DVD R CD and a 16GB NTFS Flash drive, and when attempting to re-install windows, it hangs on the "setup is starting" page and does nothing else. I've also tried booting from a Wondershare liveboot programme I downloaded and it acts the same way as the windows 7 CD, whereby it hangs on the screen, and up until recently, despite setting the boot options to external device I cannot boot from a Windows 7 CD or a USB flash drive.
Becuase it's a Sony VAIO, I've also tried restoring the laptop to its factory settings via the VAIO rescue centre, but when I go into the operation, it once again hangs where it says "please wait whilst VAIO care starts", showing nothing but a bar that does not load. When I actually was able to view the BSOD, it said this:
"A problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME"
Then the following technical information:
"*** STOP: 0x000000ED (0xFFFFFFFFFFFFC0000185, 0x000000000000000... 000)
Before the crash my laptop was laggy for 2 days, but the last instance before the laptop failed I had AVG 2012 Anti Virus performing an update, if that's anything to do with it.
Any answers would be greatly appreciated because I've exhausted every option I can think of in trying to repair the laptop without trying to get it profesionally repaired or buying a new hard drive. Thanks you to anyone who's had the same problem/can help me fix it. Matt.
