Recent BSOD, probably after updating to FF 12 or having installed DAP

My laptop's a Vaio VGNCS35GN. The laptop came with preinstalled Vista. But i later switched to Win 7 Prof 32 bit. It's a licensed version my institute subscribes to. i bought my laptop almost three years back. The hard drive had been replaced about a year back as i had a BSOD problem back then also. (You can check that thread here: https://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...ibernates.html)

I recently installed DAP, the download accelerator program and updated my Firefox to 12, later 13. But i'm back to using FF 12 as i found FF 13 to be a bit unstable. These are the only changes that i have recently made.

There has been a problem with one of my USB ports. It sometimes doesn't detect my external HD, and whenever i resume my laptop from sleep or hibernation i get an error saying that "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."

    Problem Device:
    Code:
    Unknown Device	USB\VID_0000&PID_0000\5&24826C9F&0&1	43
Do you know what the above is?

Crashes were likely caused by yk62x86.sys which is your Marvell Yukon networking driver. Yours is old and should be updated from your manufacturer's support site. I note that your LAN drivers are also old. You should update those, as well.

If VAIO does not supply updates to the devices:

Since the last time i posted the computer hadn't crashed till today morning. After which, i updated the 2 drivers you asked me too (i hope i got them right). But it crashed just a while back again, and this time i did not even get a blue screen. The screen just turned dark, after which the computer rebooted by itself. And both times today, the programs which were running was Firefox 12 and a MS Backup of my files.

I had also failed to mention this previously, but i had recently updated my Flash player, which is causing some stability issues for my browser. But i am not sure whether it can effect a crash.

I am attaching/pasting the reports of the 3 diagnostic tools.

You don't have to use Download Accelerator Plus; the Firefox-extension equivalent is DownThemAll!

From what I'm seeing in Debugging Tools for Windows:
It may not just be USB but it's your graphics chip drivers that are possibly out of date.
This blue screen crash was caused by Intel Graphics Kernel Mode Driver.
You may also have disk errors that needs to be checked with chkdsk /r on all disks, possibly the one that contains the paging file.

You'll also need to check if the Sony Firmware Extension Parser driver needs an update.

I had uninstalled DAP as soon as the first problem emerged, as I never really used it much. (@Honeycomb: thanks about that addon. I'll try it out.)
I did a checkdisk, and i did not find any obvious errors. I'm an absolute novice at these things, so i cannot really be sure, but there were no bad sectors, etc.

& I'm not really sure how to update the
Intel Graphics Kernel Mode Driver (could you provide me a link) or for that matter what does "(read: KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR)" mean? Please be a bit more specific.

Anyway, I had a third crash today. A while back. MS Backup was running (as far as i can remember it is the only program which is common to all the 4 crashes). i was also cut-copy-pasting a few files here and there. No other programs were running.

I am pasting/attaching the diagnostic reports in the next post.

Updated the latter post. Please run chkdsk /r on your MS backup volume (external HDD). I also linked everything to the Driver Reference Table.
       Note
If you don't have sufficient memory in your system, running a full disk check within Windows will take up lots of resources and make your system sluggish. In this case, it's best to do it in the Windows Recovery Environment.

Have you tried running Memtest86+? You have to be exceptionally careful, especially while following steps 2 and 3 in the tutorial, and please be careful when inserting/removing modules. Make sure to ground yourself to discharge any static electricity before working around with computer parts.

Firstly, I should start by saying that i woke up a while back to find that MS Backup had successfully completed. There were no parallel programs running, so it may (or not) have helped. So, while that's a relief, i still don't know what were causing the BSODs.

So, i'm trying out the suggestions one by one, so I'll respond accordingly.

Intel Graphics Kernel Mode Driver (IGKMD): The link you provided led me to this (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx). There when I searched for IGKMD (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sear...Mode+Driver%22). I got two results and I chose the 32-bit one. (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...mples&lang=eng). I then downloaded the IPDT installer and installed the program. When i ran the IPDT i got the attached result (TestResults.txt). Apparently there is no problem, as all the tests passed successfully. But i cannot really be sure, so please go through the attachment.

Sony Firmware Extension Parser driver: The link provided lead me to this (Sony eSupport - Electronics - Select Your Model). However, when i enter my laptop's model number (VGN-CS35GN) it is not found in the list. What does that mean?

I have run a chkdsk on both the drives of my laptop's HD. I have also run it on my backup external HD. There were no bad sectors etc.

I will run the Memtest & let you know later.

It means you probably should contact Sony support directly (via e-mail) for driver support on your system.

Make sure to run Memtest86+. Memtest and Memtest86+ are two different programs.

Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).
       Warning
Before you proceed with the following, answer these two questions: Are you still under warranty? Does your warranty allow you to open up the machine to check hardware? If you are unsure of the answers to these questions, contact your system manufacturer. WARNING: The steps that follow can void your warranty!!!

For Part 3: If You Have Errors: If you swap any memory components, follow these steps for ESD safety:
    1. Shut down and turn off your computer.
    2. Unplug all power supplies to the computer (AC Power then battery for laptops, AC power for desktops)
    3. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and ensure all power drains from components.
    4. Make sure you are grounded by using proper grounding techniques, i.e. work on an anti-static workbench, anti-static desk, or an anti-static pad. Hold something metallic while touching it to the anti-static surface, or use an anti-static wristband to attach to the anti-static material while working. If you do not have an anti-static workbench, desk, or pad, you can use your computer tower/case by finding a metal hold in it, such as a drive bay.

Once these steps have been followed, it is safe to remove and replace components within your computer.
