BSOD on Windows Startup, error 0x0000007E

    Before BSOD:
    Installed 2 games.

    * I assume this might be the cause.

    Troubleshooting attemps:
    CAN go on Safe Mode.
msconfig: disabled all non-ms services, disabled all startup programs. No go.
System Restore: Failed first go, now no restore points shows up.
    Startup repair: no problems
    Memtest: All good.

    System Info:
    Current: Windows 7 Pro x64
    OEM OS: Windows Vista
Win 7 Pro is Full retail

    System Hardware (age):
    Approx. 3 years.
Last installed Windows 7 Pro on/about: Nov 2011.

compressed files as instructed by sticky.

Any help would be awesome, and thank you.
I'll keep on troubleshooting in the meanwhile.

    More info upon request :)

    Corrupted msinfo32 file:
Do both of the following steps:
    • Please upload your msinfo32.nfo file. To get this: Start Menu -> Type msinfo32 into the Search programs and files box -> When it opens, go to File, Save -> Save as msinfo32.nfo and save in a place you will remember -> Let it finish the process of gathering and saving the system info -> Right click the .nfo file, click send to compressed (zipped) folder -> Upload the .zip file here.

    • Please upload your msinfo32.txt file. To get this: Start Menu -> Type msinfo32 into the Search programs and files box -> When it opens, go to File, Export -> Save as msinfo32.txt and save in a place you will remember -> Let it finish the process of gathering and saving the system info -> Right click the .txt file, click send to compressed (zipped) folder -> Upload the .zip file here.

    Analysis:
Your most recent crashes point to a corrupted AVG installation.
    1. Remove AVG with the AVG Remover...

    2. Download a fresh copy of AVG 2012...

    3. Install AVG 2012 fresh...

    4. Do your normal routine for twice as long as it normally takes to get crashes. If you still have crashes, proceed to the following steps:
      1. Remove AVG with the AVG Remover...

      2. Replace AVG with either of these:

You have saved me a tons more of headache with this info.
I've suspected it was an AVG driver, since that was the last thing I saw that got updated before the BSOD started to occur. But the doubt in me says that AVG has never failed me. So I looked past it.

    Solution:
Boot with Linux Live CD (bt5)
Move all AVG files (AVG Folder, Drivers, ANYTHING AVG*) to a Thumb drive.
    reboot.

I'm sorry I didn't follow the AVG remover method as I could not get into windows.

But Thank you a bunch writhziden!

    You're welcome.

That's quite alright about not following the AVG Remover method. Sounds like you got it sorted through Linux. I am very happy to see it solved!!
