Unexpected shutdown when waking from sleep

Ok so I was reading through the log files created by the awsome peice of software provided by this website and I realised that AverBas.sys is a driver for the tv card that I had manually installed from the Dell drivers website.

I have uninstalled the drivers and no more BSOD :)

However my TV card is not recognised by windows and will not download any generic software

any ideas would be welcome

Well its me again
I have found the latest driver for my TV card here:
AVerMedia MPD USA - PCTV tuner card - HDTV tuners - HD Capture - Live TV on iPad - HD Media Player - M779 (Hybrid)

however the result is still the same BSOD on wake from sleep.

I'm not sure what to do next.

Just so we are on the same page:
- I originally installed a Dell driver because I salvaged the card from a Dell built PC.
- The latest and most approriate (in my eyes) driver tested from the website mentioned above is the Vista 64bit version.

Obviously a Windows Seven driver would be best but so far unfindable.

Is there a way of modifying the sequence of events that occur on wake from stanby?


Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

by the way could you tell me what sort of security leaks I could be subject to.

You can get viruses, malware, tools for stealing your identity information, credit card information, banking information, ...

Basically, with a non-genuine version of Windows, all your information is open to anyone who wants it, and malicious software can be planted on the system to cause the system not to work right, to crash, to hang, to freeze, etc. and for people to steal data and personal information from you.

Is there a way of minimising these risks with a strong firewall or by keeping an eye on running services?
