BSOD out of nowhere, for window 7 64 bit

    system spec:
    Window 7 64 bit
    i7, 860 @2.7 Ghz
    6.00 gb of ram

Got random BSOD for about a week right now, Sometimes I get blue screen and sometimes the computer just restarts by itself, and it seems to be occurring more and more often. I really don't know how to solve the problem except to upload the file here. Thanks

Hello and welcome to Seven Forums,

If you are overclocking your system, please return all overclocked components to their stock speeds. If the BSOD's are found not to be caused by the overclock, you can re-overclock the components once we have finished the diagnostics

    RECOMMENDATIONS

    Problem devices:
    Code:
LGE USB Device USB\VID_1004&PID_6000\6&12EAC3BD&0&1 The drivers for this device are not installed.
Please install the drivers for this device. Devices without the necessary drivers can cause instability and BSOD's.

    Daemon Tools
Please uninstall DAEMON Tools. This software uses a driver called sptd.sys which is a known BSOD cause in Windows 7. Uninstall the software using Add/Remove Programs. Once the program is uninstalled, run sptd.sys uninstaller to remove the driver from your system.

As an alternative, many people recommend the use of Total Mounter or [URL=http://www.magiciso.com/]Magic ISO[/

    BSOD ANALYSIS

    Graphics Card/DirectX
Some crashes blame DirectX and/or your graphics card. As DirectX is built into windows, it can indicate file corruption. It could also mean you have graphics card issues.

Please run the sfc /scannow checker to check and repair important system files. Follow option two in this tutorial: SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker. If it reports that Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations, tell me. If it attempts to repair files, attach the CBS.log file to your next post. It is located here C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log.

Then, follow the steps for Diagnosing basic problems with DirectX. If that proves unsuccessful and doesn't solve the BSOD's, try to reinstall your graphics card drivers by following these steps.

    1. Download the drivers you want for your display card(s)
    2. Click Start Menu
    3. Click Control Panel
    4. Click Uninstall a program

    For AMD:

    • Uninstall AMD Catalyst Install Manager if it is listed (this should remove all AMD graphics software and drivers)
    • If AMD Catalyst Install Manager is not listed, use the following method to uninstall the graphics drivers (this applies to on-board graphics, as well):
      1. Click Start Menu
      2. Right Click My Computer/Computer
      3. Click Manage
      4. Click Device Manager from the list on the left
      5. Expand Display adapters
      6. Do the following for each adapter (in case you have multiple display cards)

      • Right click the adapter
      • Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
      • Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK

If this doesn’t work, try this method:

    1. Login as an administrative user
    2. Click Start Menu
    3. Click Control Panel
    4. Click Hardware and Sound
    5. Click Device Manager (the last link under Devices and Printers)
    6. Expand Display adapters

Once the drivers have been uninstalled, reboot your PC. Then install the driver you downloaded earlier once Windows starts. If there are issues, try another version of the driver.

    Other Hardware
Please run Memtest86+ to check your RAM. Let it run for 6-8 passes overnight as described in the tutorial. Pay particular attention to parts 2 and 3.

Also check your HDD for errors using Seatools and chkdsk.. Download and create a bootable version of the Seatools for DOS program as described here. For check disk, follow this tutorial: Disk Check

Work through each of these steps and report back after you've completed each one. If you have any questions, feel free to ask

    EIDT - PLEASE READ

I have noticed you have a driver called ASACPI.sys that is out of date. Please update it before trying any other steps. Please download the latest version from here: http://support.asus.com/download/Opt...uage=en&type=1 and follow the below steps.

To fully re-install a driver, use the following steps.

First, download the latest driver. Then do the next steps.
    Click Start Menu
    Right Click My Computer/Computer
    Click Manage
Click Device Manager from the list on the left
Find the device you are trying to uninstall by expanding the appropriate set of devices
    Right click the device
Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK
Restart your computer only if Windows asks you to.
Install the latest driver for the device.

Thanks to Writhziden for these steps!

First of all thx, I ran the sfc checker and it reports that Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations. As for the ASACPI,sys, I don't quite understand how to find the appropriate replacement for that file on the website. My motherboard is P7P55DLE and I find quite a lot of updates for it; do I have to update the bios only? And where do I place the .rom file?

    Thanks

alright thx I clicked on both the ACPI and ACPI64 folders and installed the driver by clicking on "AsAcpiIns". The installation took less than 1 sec, but I guess it automatically updates the driver. I will have to wait and see whether BSOD will happen randomly again. And thank you again for your help, appreciate it.

I am still getting BSOD and it seems the problem is associated with one of my drivers, since when I get blue screen it says PFN_LIST corrupted.
