That is good news. :)
You should read carefully through Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 for the steps to clean re-install your system using the COA key sticker.
Damn, got a problem. Its unreadable..
If the key is unreadable, you have two options:
- Did you make recovery discs when you first bought the computer like you are supposed to? If so, use those recovery discs to restore your system to its original, out of the box state.
- Contact Packard Bell and purchase the recovery discs from them; this usually is around 20-30 US dollars (or the equivalent). They may also offer to issue a Windows 7 disc if they cannot provide the recovery discs.
Ill contact PB, I cannot find my own disks ... gonna move soon..
But if I purchase one from PB, how can it work on another hard drive as the recovery disk doesnt contain W7 or?
The recovery discs contain a system image of how Windows was configured when you first bought it. The discs will restore that image so your system has Windows installed as it was originally. :)
Let us know when you have backed up your data, formatted the drive, and restored Windows with the recovery discs.
But wait a sec, isnt it possible to make a recovery of the windows partition only while running windows?
Im considering to send it for repair. I believe I still have warranty on this thing.
You can create a system image and recover a system image without running Windows. There are recovery programs available to do it offline using a boot CD/DVD that users can run for free:
I did not realize you were still under warranty. The problems you are experiencing should be covered under warranty and you will not have to pay for the recovery to be done. Just make sure you backup important data prior to sending it in for service.
Hi.
I booted the Rescue ISO and at the point I'm supposed to "Select local or network folder that contains the image to be loaded." , where do I find the image og the system itself?
Also, recently sent a e-mail to PB, so just gonna waint for an answer.
I don't have warranty on this, (only 1 year), but in Norway we have something similar to warranty too, 5 years for laptops. (It's the law :) ) It doesn't apply to user errors though.
