Ok. So I don't know why... But my Firmware was on rev. 1.2 and struggled for the last hour to actually get it updated and to take effect. Anyhow, it's rev. 5.0.3 now.
But while I went through all of this I saw that my Bios wasn't up to date and doesn't matter what, "The version isn't compatible with your version of Windows"
My @BIOS Utility only picks up rev. F5, but on the official website there is "F6" and "U1L"
GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1155 - GA-Z68XP-UD4 (rev. 1.3)
Any know how?
I am not very sure, but perhaps the latest BIOS uses UEFI. In that case, it will not support a MBR partition based windows installation natively. Some alterations in the BIOS settings have to be done, it is to set all the UEFI settings to Legacy to make the existing installation and the existing partition table workable on it.
But the problem is, a firmware update should be accompanied by an updated BIOS, updated SATA/AHCI drivers (if you use third party drivers like JMicron or Marvell) etc.
But first you check if the situation is the same or not ... is it still crashing after updating the firmware?
We will take help of our hardware experts on the BIOS update, if needed.
I'm using the Standard AHCI 1.0 SATA Controller I've checked, no new update available. BIOS I can only get to update to F5, no further... The Firmware on the SSD is at rev. 5.0.3
Since the Firmware update, I haven't crashed again.
Looks like BSOD is sorted ;-)
Stupid Firmware problem. I really didn't even know that SSD's had upgradeable Firmware. Shot for all the help guys.
Now... BIOS upgrade settings... HELP! Please!
You have the F5 version of Bios installed, dated 2011/10/12.
After that there are two updates, but dont take the latest one (firstly that's a BETA, and secondly that's a UEFI BIOS .... might be problematic for your existing windows installation) dated 2013/03/06.Code:BiosVersion = F5 BiosReleaseDate = 10/12/2011
Download the F6 version, dated 2012/02/20.
GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1155 - GA-Z68XP-UD4 (rev. 1.0)
I actually have the (rev.1.3) Motherboard, but saw decided to try this update anyway, as (rev. 1.3) doesn't want to install, due to incompatibility with Windows... Anyway had the same problem now.
So I decided to upload file vie @BIOS Utility and Boom! it worked. Now... Do you think there's a differance between the rev. 1.0 & rev. 1.3 ? or should I just leave it as is?
I failed to check the rev .... it came out as x.x.
But the BIOS for 1.0 and 1.3 are the same. Both are Intel® Z68 Chipset.
Let us know if there are any further issues.
