You're welcome. Look forward to the results.
There are other possible causes for your crashes, but the SSD or some incompatibility seem most likely.

Without going to beta drivers/BIOS, I'm currently on the latest of both. I installed the chipset drivers first and still got the blue screen. I've since installed the latest BIOS, so I'll see how I go.
If this doesn't work, I'll try the power cycle.
Will post back soon.
Ok, I went as far as reinstalling the OS and I'm still getting this BSOD.
I was able to get several startups without any BSOD, before I installed anything other than the OS. I don't know if this was just luck or if something I'm doing after OS install is causing the issue.
I'm going to start installing just one or two things a day and do a heap of start ups and shutdowns, to see if I can find out what's causing it.
Got Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64 bit installed and fully up to date. After at least ten boots, the system has not blue screened. Today, I'll install motherboard drivers.
Things seem to go to shit when I install the software for the motherboard. I'll try installing the software and drivers one at at time. Think I'll start with the SSD stuff.
I believe the Intel RST driver and Utility (Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver) is what's causing the blue screens.
I installed motherboard drivers one by one and did multiple restarts between each, without a blue screen. This is until I got to the Intel RST driver and utility.
Time for some Googling, I guess.
Anyone have anything to add?
EDIT:
I downloaded a more recent RST from the ASRock website, let's see if this changes anything.
*sigh*
The updated RST did not help... BSOD on boot...
Had another user with similar issues with the Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers. The SSD was also an Intel brand. Very odd.
Try uninstalling the Intel controller and let Windows install its own controller.
- Click Start Menu
- Right Click My Computer/Computer
- Click Manage
- Click Device Manager from the list on the left
- Expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers
- Right click the Intel device
- Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
- Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK
- Restart your computer.
- Let Windows install the appropriate driver.
Alternatively:
- Login as an adminstrative user.
- Click Start Menu
- Click Control Panel
- Click Hardware and Sound
- Click Device Manager (the last link under Devices and Printers)
- Expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers
- Right click the Intel device
- Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
- Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK
- Restart your computer.
- Let Windows install the appropriate driver.
Thanks for the help, I'll try that soon.
Do you have a link to this other thread, so I can have a read through it? Thanks.
Ok, if I update through Windows, it tells me the driver is up to date. However, this driver seems to be from 2006.
I'll try the Intel forums, see if anyone there has any idea what may be causing it.
Could this be a sign the drive is faulty?
