New components, random BSOD and reboots

Hello.

I've been trying to google my problem and now I think it is time to let people with more experience to look at what might be wrong with my computer.

Actual problem is that I've been having quite random blue screens, reboots and even complete system hangings for past few weeks, after I installed some new components.

In my profile you can see most of what's in my current setup, but I have to point out that RAM, PSU and CPU are brand new. I also have new graphics card, Club3D HD 6790 Coolstream Edition.

I returned my 6790 after I first began having problems, as putting my 4850 back seemed to fix the problem.

BSODs, reboots and hangs mostly happen while playing games, but couple times I've encountered them while just browsing internet.

Also I bought a new mouse, G400 (previously had G9) due old mouse had its cord going bad, it kept disconnecting randomly when moving.

I hope there is enough info for you to pinpoint where my problem might be. I

I've ran memtest for few passes, chkdsk and defragmented my drives, and even tried to reinstall windows, but problem still seems to occur sooner or later.

Appreciate any help and hoping to find a solution.

Do a full scan of your system using: Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows

Afterwards: Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware download

If nothing pops up for both of those,

try: Windows Defender Offline

I've been aiming to keep my computer clean (even with CCleaner) regularly but I'm willing to co-operate with everything suggested here.

Scans with Malwarebytes antimalware and MS Security Essentials came up clean, currently working on windows defender.

Windows Defender didn't detect anything.

Looking forward to hear more suggestions or advices.

Older versions of ASACPI.SYS are a known BSOD problem on Windows 7. Update the driver by:

1. Going to the Asus motherboard support site
   When you reach the website:
2. Scroll down the page and click Utilities
3. Hold Ctrl and press f (ctrl+f) to enter the browser's find feature
4. Search for "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Win7 32&64-bit" (without quotes)
5. Download and install the driver.
6. After installation is complete, verify that it installed correctly.
   
   • Click Start Menu
   • Click My Computer
   • Go to C:\WIndows\System32\drivers\
   • Verify that the ASACPI.SYS file is dated 2009 or newer (2010,etc.)

Thank you Writhziden. Currently I am at lan-party, and oddly I haven´t had any bsods, reboots or hangings here as of now (since friday evening 20th July). But then again I haven't really been "stressing" out my system while at lan.

I did update ASACPI.SYS as you instructed and from checking properties it says modified 2009, so guessing this is ok.

As of now I can't really troubleshoot this problem until I get to my appartment, approximately next monday.

Would like to keep this topic open for now though, will post updates asap.

Just an update.

At lan-party for 4 days of more or less straightforward gaming no problems occurred and now I'm back home and haven't had any problems so far.

Would like to keep this topic open for couple more days, as I think my computer might just needed a change of scenery, apart from updating ASACPI.sys as Writhziden suggested :)

Hello.

Today I've been having quite a rush with recent events.

First of all I didn't have any problems with my computer yesterday, but this morning after I booted and checked couple youtube videos, my computer just shut down (seen it happen before) but after that it wouldn't boot up. It powered on, all fans running though.

Anyway soon after I got a call about my 6790 ati being available after I RMA'd it, however I was given HD 7770 instead and for reasons I can't really comprehend. Oh well I suppose its a bit better than 6790 anyway so I went back to my appartment and just plugged it in. I wasn't sure if my computer would boot properly, but for my surprise it did.

So I got to my desktop, used driver sweeper to clear my old video drivers and began installing the ones for 7770. "Snap, crakle, pop!" and I saw flames coming out from that freshly unpacked 7770!

"Lucky me" I was thinking and of course I returned it right away, had a share of sympathy from the store clerk I had been doing business with and went back home.

I decided to plug back in my old 4850 still afraid something else had fried up but yet again my system booted up, not without problems though.

During the first boot right after putting back my old gfx card I encountered this BSOD:

After that BSOD I rebooted my computer again and saw this:

I pressed F2 to load default values and for now my computer has been running more or less stable for few hours again.

I added two new (i think) minidumps as attachment, date modified states they are both created or edited today 24th July.
