sfc scannow errors, chkdsk taking forever to complete

    Hi,

My system fell down twice within two days (fri and saturday), makes me wonder what is happening ! On the second fall, the system started having booting issues which i managed to resolve. Thereafter, it started hanging and programs were not responding to commands. Tried running sfc scannow from an elevated command, it stopped at 53% with an error " Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation ". Still tried it over again, occasionally restarting (hot restarting since system cannot restart) but had same error. Switched to the safe mode but experienced same error. Tried chkdsk, but it lasts forever. from the bios, can see the hard drive in place (HDD0 HITACHI . . .. . )

Don't have a repair disk or backup .. . can i make a backup now ? what next can i do in this instance.

system is windows 7 professional SP1 32 bit
    lenovo thinkpad T410

Not very smart to let it drop twice!! keyboard, mouse, screen, audio, usb stuff.... all is working fine (as far as you can test)?

    From elevated command:
    Code:
    chkdsk/f c:
Eventualy chkdsk/f d: So do it for all disks.

chkdsk sometimes looks like it is freezing but continues after a few minutes. Post screenshot (or camshot) of chkdsk output if it really takes for ever and doesn't continue.

Do a memory check as well
