the illumination is probably what was causing the draw.
I would keep it turned off, but in that state it's really just another typical keyboard. So no cringe.

I realized, that the setup of the Network IF of windows 7 is slower than it was on XP.
Sometimes the setup is also not working correctly resulting in an unavailable Network connection, so that I have to deactivate and reactivate the network adapter (even this does not help every time)...
I have a strange issue where every webpage (whether via Firefox 3.5.2 or IE8) will always load slower on my Windows 7 system as compared to my Macbook Pro.
Both computers are wirelessly connected. I've ran speedtests on both systems, and both come out the same -
