BSOD in ntoskrnl.exe+7f1c0 on new Laptop Win 7 64 bit

    Hello,

I'm having blue screen errors on my Laptop which is only a couple weeks old and otherwise running fine. The BSODs aren't that many, maybe once a week while using the computer daily. Once it apparently was caused by me plugging in my USB mouse. Already did a memtest and chkdsk without result. Diagnostic tool files are attached. Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Hello,

It looks like the first two BSODs were caused by old Razer mouse drivers. Install updated ones from here: Razer Support

    Code:
    copperhd.sys Tue Nov 10 02:50:17 2009 (4AF91B39)
The last one may have been caused by hardware. Try running the three Prime95 tests: Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95

Thanks! I have indeed updated the Razer driver between the second and third BSOD, so it makes sense that it was the cause for the first two. Running Prime95 now.

Could you clarify what you mean by the three prime95 tests? I ran the software, left all settings as they were and it was running tests with 4 "workers" for about two hours, yielded 0 errors and 0 warnings.

    See here:

Be sure to run the Blend, Small FFTs, and Large FFTs.

Thanks! Default setting was blend, so I ran that one for 105 minutes yesterday without errors.

And some more info: The 3rd error occured right after Windows loaded and the desktop appeared without me doing anything. The same happened today. And I never updated the firmware on that Razer mouse, could that be it?

Edit: Ran Small FFTs for 4 hours with 0 errors, 0 warnings.

Ok, blend test 105 minutes, Small FFTs 4 hours, Large FFTs 3,5 hours without errors or warnings. Is that enough?

That should be sufficient; it doesn't look like Prime95 is going to detect bad hardware.

If the BSODs persist after the driver and firmware update, run driver verifier: Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Ok, I'll do that if another one happens and report back. Thanks so far!
