Hello
I have recently been getting BSOD while playing certain games such as Skyrim and GTAIV. My computer seems to randomly shut down and restart. When it turns back on Windows shows that it was a BSOD and I am unsure why it is happening.
Nothing appears to be overheating as everything is around 40C-45C. I have tried re installing my GPU drivers but I don't know what else could be causing the problem.

Your bios has updates... your current version is 0403 and there has been 6 revisions to the latest version 1103 that which included lots of stability fixes..
Plus please update you AMD chipset drivers as well as most of the errors are due to this...
As a matter of fact please do all the updates thats available
and report back if you still have issue
I was going to update my bios before but was told that if it went wrong it could ruin my computer. I've looked into it a bit and it seems to be simple enough to update.

make sure you power doesn't go off when you are doing this.... if it doesn't thats when to MB gets bricked... other than that.... pleae update...
After about an hour I've managed to update my bios. For some reason all of the ROM files from the link you posted kept giving me the "rom id in the file is incompatible with existing bios" error when trying to update. After going to the ASUS support site and entering my serial number it took me to this page ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download M5A78L/USB3 where the BIOS update worked. The only problem is that the most recent version is only 1003 as oppose to 1103.
Will this make much of a difference?

the bios upgrade is just for stability purpose....
but the main one is the AMD chipset driver... which is what was the cause most of the BSOD....
update all to the latest and let me know your feedback
I updated both the chipset and BIOS then posted the previous message. I went on skyrim not long after and got another BSOD. When I turned my PC back on I got this message:
