    You cannot connect to the internet if you use a dial-up or PPP connection,
    have a DSL connection that uses PPPoE,
    have a satellite connection,
    or have a wireless connection.

    If you do not connect with those methods, just use safe mode with networking.

    im in safe mode, looking around and i noticed that windows cannot load the driver for IR devices, would that be causing the problem?

    I dont think there is a problem. They cant load in safe mode, but do in regular mode.

    so my computer looks good in safe mode, does this mean its a microsoft service that is causing the bsods?

    It usually means that a driver is the problem.
    If it does not BSOD in clean boot, you can use the procedure tofind the precise cause

    No go back to regular mode, set up Clean boot. If it works in clean boot and you follow the procedure you will find the cause of your problem.
