    Windows Installation Error

I have seen countless threads on this. So, let me make this easier. After a fresh install, and tons of Windows updates, the Windows Installer breaks. Totally unfixable. I tried every fix on the internet. I never had this problem when I first bought this computer in 2009. But now, all of a sudden, it give me this error. Some of the programs magically disappear from the Uninstall list too.

Is it time for me to throw this computer in the garbage? It's an asus. One of those computers where the Disc has been tampered with by the company to ensure that you don't install Windows anywhere else.

My first thought is who owns the computer? If it has a company protection installed it would seam that it's owned by a company. Their for shouldn't be tampered with.

I think you misunderstood. It's my computer. I purchased it from Best Buy. It's one of those OEM installations where they're tied to the hardware..

    Hi,

That shouldn't be a problem then, since the only hardware that comes into play is the motherboard. Even so, you shouldn't be seeing these problems....

Lets start by checking that Windows sees itself as genuine first. Please follow the steps outline in the tutorial linked below, and post the results here in your next reply:
