I tried an older driver and it is still doing it. I have no idea what to do.![]()
I found this on a website and I was wondering if anyone thinks this solution would fix my problem.
Issue
Symptoms of this crash:
- A flickering creen (small flashes)
- A frozen screen (still image)
- The screen is totally black
Solution
- Part One
- Go to the NVIDIA folder > C:NVIDIA
- Find a file named "nvlddmkm.sy_"
- The location of this file may vary between different machines
- copy the file to the root of C > C:nvlddmkm.sy_
- Part Two
- Go to the system folder where the drivers are stored > C:\WindowsSystem32\Drivers
- Once in this folder, locate the defective "nvlddmkm.sys" file and rename it "nvlddmkm.sys.old"
- Part Three
- Open the MS-DOS command prompt by pressing Windows key + R and type "cmd"
- Once the command prompt opens, type the following commands:
- 1) "cd" and type enter (you are the root of the C drive)
- 2) "expand.exe nvlddmkm.sy_ nvlddmkm.sys" and then press Enter
- This command allows you to unzip the file - nvlddmkm.sys - that that you saved to the C drive and create the new "nvlddmkm.sys"
- Copy this file to C:\WindowsSystem\32drivers
- Restart your PC
Post the latest files using SF diag,,.. install the latest nvidia driver you have
I know everyone is probably really busy but if anyone has a little free time to try to help me I will be very thankful. I do almost everything online except socialize and work.
Can you Uninstall Norton Anti Virus and install Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows While we troubleshoot your system.
Thanks
