BSOD after replacing 4GB Ram with 8GB on windows 7 64 bit
Good morning,
I have an old laptop a HP pavillion dv6 1160tx (HP Pavilion DV6-1160TX Notebook (VF040PA) | Techbuy Australia)
that came preloaded with Vista. I upgraded to windows 7 64bit as I wanted to increase the RAM from 2x2gb to 2 x4gb. The upgrade to windows 7 went fine and then I purchased my memory
1 x 8GB KIT ( 2 X 4GB) DDR2-5300 DDR2-667 SODIMM (66-CJN) , 8GB_DDR2-5300, 8GB_DDR2-5300.
After installing it it didnt start up so I opened it and ensured it was seated correctly. It worked after that. Then I started getting BSOD on memory management on non page fault and lots of windows explorer stopped working error messages.
So after some research I formatted the machine and re-installed windows 7 ( with only one of 4gb of ram slots as when it came to expanding windows files it also froze. Installed worked fine, then BSOD again. this happened when installing windows updates , this time referencing a non page fault message.
last bsod was on ntfs.sys, i am running a chkdsk now. I am not a techie per say more of a database techie, so one of those who knows enough to be dangerous
