    Usual causes: Disk corruption, insufficient physical memory, Device driver, Indexing, Resident antivirus, backup, defrag programs, Disk/Drive failing/failure

    * To make sure your hard drive is good run
    Disk Check

    * Hard drive test both short and long with
    SeaTools for Windows

    SeaTools for DOS

    * System file checker for repairing any damaged files within windows
    SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    thanks, but ive tried that seatools for windows and it doesnt pick up my actual HDD (any partition) it only picks up USB memory sticks or my phone while plugged in via USB, problem or am i doing something wrong?

    Remove usb things, and follow the instructions rightly.

    yeah, erm, once again i've installed as stated and run from the desktop shortcut, taken all USB sticks out and still nothing, but upon asking for boot drive details, it gives me the details... any knowledge on this?

    Craig, I requested a friend (Senior BSOD analyst - Richard) to take a look at your thread., We'll hold this for now, can't go further till the ram stuff gets corrected as it might be the problem.

    Right, so my friend kindly gave me 3 sticks of DDR3 RAM :) how kind. I have 2 photos of the memtest, i could only do 1 pass per test as i am going to be busy later, the files are attached, the first photo is of the single 2GB RAM, and the second is with an additional 2x1GB sticks in.

    i'll do an 8 pass tomorrow and give the results.

    P.S OI leave my monitor alone! :) it's been with me for about 8 years and hasn't died yet :)
