BSOD Watching Videos on Youtube and moving files >3GB

Hi, just bought my computer on the 4th of September. I installed all the drivers for the motherboard etc and used MSI's Liveupdate to update them. The driver for the AMD graphics card is from AMD's website too.

    1. I noticed the problem when I was move all my files from my old HD. Trying to move a large amount of data (>3GB) would cause the computer to BSOD.

    2. Figure the guy at the store didn't install Windows properly so I formatted the partition and reinstalled everything. Everything is uptodate.

    3. I started to notice that after watching videos on Youtube for a while it would crash. However, everything would be fine when I'd spend hours using powerpoint or word etc.

    4. From time to time my AMD graphics card driver would stop working and the resolution would go wonky and then I would switch my screen off and then back on. Everything would return to normal.

    5. I used this graphics card for about a month on my old rig with no issues whatsoever.

    6. I initially had 8GB of RAM, 2X4GB dual channeled. One stick is from my old machine and the Corsair is new. I had suspected that the RAM maybe at fault and so pulled out the new Corsair and just using the old one but still no change.

Despite all of this the BSOD's have continued, sometimes upto 4 times an hour and then everything would be fine for a few hours and then it would start all over again.

I got BlueScreenViewer which blames ntoskrnl.exe but on going thru this forum I realised it could be a lot of other things too.

I've attached the SF Diagnostic Tool zip. Let me know if you need any more information.

    Welcome

Please uninstall AVG while we troubleshoot problems with your computer.
    Code:
    Start Menu\Programs\AVG	Public:Start Menu\Programs\AVG	Public
    PROCESS_NAME: avgnsa.exe
Also uninstall Spybot - Search & Destroy.
    Code:
    Start Menu\Programs\Spybot - Search & Destroy	Public:Start Menu\Programs\Spybot - Search & Destroy	Public
Download and install MSE. It is known to be the most compatible with Windows 7 + its free!
Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows

A replacement for Spybot - Search & Destroy would be Malwarebytes (free).
Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware removes malware including viruses, spyware, worms and trojans, plus it protects your computer

Run a full scan with both to make sure you are free of nasty worms! :)

You may keep these as long as we are troubleshooting your computer to find out the reasons of its crashes.

If you have an on board video/gpu slot, stay connected to that one see if you crash there.

If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

With the different numbers of bug checks I'd suggest you the follows

To make sure that hard drive is good run disk check following the tutorials below:

    1. Disk Check
    2. Hard drive scan usings SeaTools SeaTools | Seagate both long and short tests.

After this, run the system file checker to repair any corrupted files within windows
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

You should run memtest86+ on each stick for 8 passes preferably overnight.

    Hi,

Thanks for replying... so far i've

    1. Uninstalled AVG and installed Windows Security Essentials
    2. Uninstalled Spybot and installed Malwarebyte
    3. Scanned my computer with them and it came out clean.
    4. No I am not overclocking
    5. Running the RAM tests
    6. I'm trying to run the HD checks and I got the Seagate tool. Will it also work for Western Digital HDs?

    Updates

    1. Went ahead and replaced the SATA cable on my HD and my RAM is in a different slot as I'm still the the midst of the the memory test. My computer seems more, stable. I tried moving a whole bunch of files back and forth. It didn't crash. Although after running a whole bunch of Youtube videos. My display driver crashes, I switch off my display and turn it back on and its fine again. But then it the driver crashes again after a while. After a couple of times I finally managed to get one BSOD. Do you think my VGA card is running too hot?

I still continue to get crashes. The computer will just restart. No bluescreen however. I've attached the SF zip.

    2. Ran the Disk Check : All it said was that the drive was clean. Nothing else
    3. Ran both Long and Short tests using the SeagateTool. Passed both
    4. Ran system file checked and found netshell.dll was corrupt. Couldn't repair it so I replaced it manually from Safe Mode using the tutorials here. sfcdetails file attached

    Still running memtest86+.

And a belated Happy Birthday to you

Hi and thanks for the birthday wishes :)

You may use speccy to see if your VGA card is running (too) hot.
Do you play games? keep a check during that time as well.

    Which browser do you use?

    Disable hardware acceleration:

    Chrome

Disabling hardware accelerated video playback - YouTube Help

    Disabling hardware accelerated video playback
While we work with Adobe to smooth out a few kinks, the following steps will allow you to disable hardware-accelerated playback, and get back to watching YouTube videos:

Right-click in the middle of the video below (or on the on the video you're having issues with)
    Click Settings
    Click the left-most tab
Uncheck the 'Enable hardware acceleration' checkbox to disable hardware acceleration.
    Refresh the page

If you're having trouble with the above workarounds (the 'Settings' link is grayed out, or the pop-up appears to be frozen), please try the following:

From the Watch page of any video, pop the player out (right-click on the video, then click 'Pop out') and try right-clicking again.
Clear your cache and cookies and try again.
If you still encounter issues, try making the changes in another browser. Once you disable hardware acceleration, the change will apply across all internet browsers on your computer.

Note, if you are a Safari user, you can also try this alternate workaround:

    Quit Safari
    Open the Applications folder
    Right-click Safari
    Select Get Info
Check the Open in 32-bit mode checkbox
    Firefox

    1. Click on the firefox tab
    2. Click on Options Options
    3. Go to the Advanced tab
    4. Unselect Use hardware accelerations when available
    5. Restart firefox. See if the problem goes.
    Keep us posted

Thanks for getting back to me so soon.

It's been BSODding from the very first day so I haven't installed anything other that what was absolutely necessary. I haven't tried installing a game either.

I've gotten speccy and disabled hardware acceleration. If it goes well today. I'll install a game and then see how it goes.

Shall we try stress testing to see if everything is alright? Driver Verifiers? How about the one on the SF
    Diagnostic tool?

Yup you can do the stress test (remember to monitor the temp with speccy)
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

We'll keep aside driver verifier for the time being till you get more bsods

    Let us know your results

Haven't been able to test my graphics card. Furmark keeps crashing on me.

Now my machine just keeps restarting no more BSODs. The core temperatures stay within 35-55 degrees and my graphics card around 27-30 degrees.

Do you reckon it could be an issue with my motherboard?

Also when copying netshell.dll I believe I got the file from the wrong image. I got it from Image 1. While I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate. The list doesnt have an Image for Ultimate or is it the same for Professional?

Getting a little tired of this. It's put me behind with my school work and I'm not sure the guy at the computer store is going to go to all this length to diagnose the issue.

Attaching the latest SF Diagnostic Files

Sounds like a PSU issue. I will ask a friend to guide you.
