Windows 7: BSOD at random times during gaming, some video streaming.

BSOD at random times during gaming, some video streaming.

I didn't get the error number from the BSODs because I keep forgetting to write them down (frustrated, I just reboot out of habit), and I couldn't replicate the issues after finding this site, but I know I'll see one within the next 3-4 days.

Here's my system and what I know about the errors:

Video: GTX 460 w/latest drivers
CPU: AMD Phenom II x6 1090t

Windows 7 x64
4GB ram

The errors have happened not during launching, but instead at seemingly random intervals while playing Just Cause 2, Fallout: NV, BF:3, and Arkham City etc. It might not occur during a 5 hour session, or I might see it happen 7 times in a half hour session.

It never happens watching Netflix or Youtube, but has happened watching Hulu/various news sites.

Sometimes, I have seen another kind of crash that doesn't go BSOD, but after whatever program I'm using crashes to the desktop, my web browsers all "crash" to an unbrowsable state in which there are flickers and diagonal lines running through everything within the window. IE/Chrome don't seem to be able to display even text without this issue--however my desktop itself displays just fine.

I've stress tested my machine with everything out there and nothing pings as an issue. I'm pretty sure I've updated all the drivers, but who knows!

Invadertim, sorry to say, but the crash dumps you posted, the latest one is of February this year. Analyzing those will not solve your today's problem.

Try forcing minidump on crash, and post it in the next time.
  1. Go to Advance System Setting
  2. Under Performance .. click on setting ...
  3. Go to Advanced Tab and then under virtual memory click change
  4. check "Automatically Manage paging file size for all drives"..... click Ok and ok
  5. and if asked to restart do so....

Now you should be able to create a minidump

BSOD caused by tcpip.sys while gaming + streaming video
The crash only seems to occur if I attempt to stream video and play a game simultaneously. Curiously, the crash is a bluescreen in name only, as visually it's actually a black screen followed by loss of signal to the monitor. Minidump suggests tcpip.sys is the cause. Windows 7 64-bit OEM Asus...
