BSOD when installing a new RAM

Hi,

I replaced an old 512RAM to a 1 Gb RAM, but blue screen occurred. It showed BAD_POOL_HEADER and MEMORY_MANAGEMENT errors.

The scanned file is uploaded. I got this zip file by running the dumps tools provided in this forum. However, when I run it, I have removed the new RAM, because I cannot boot the system with the new RAM.

Hopefully I can find the solution in this forum. Thanks.

Bests,
Xiaodong

Hello there!

Insert your new RAM then run Memory Diagnostic using MemTest86+ RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Thanks for your response. Can I run the memory test using a Ubuntu live CD which has a Memory86 test tool in it? I don't have an empty USB or CD at hand. Actually, I can boot into the ubuntu system installed in my computer.

Thanks again.

I am using my Ubuntu Live CD to test the Memory with the build-in Memtest86+ V4.10 tool.

Ok, here is the result:

The new RAM stick doesn't work at all. It fails totally. I cannot boot the computer at all if I only insert that stick. The CPU doesn't run, the screen is black, the CD reader starts at the beginning, the harddrive doesn't run with the new stick.

Does that means I should replace the stick? Thanks.

Check and make sure the stick is compatible with your Motherboard. Try different DIMM slots if that fails then Yes, it's a bad RAM.
