Hi Justin,
Copy this file: C:\Windows\WinSxS\x86_microsoft-windows-calc.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6000.16386_en-us_89314afcc0524026\calc.exe.mui
Paste it here (replace any existing file): C:\Windows\System32\en-US\calc.exe.mui
Copy this file: C:\Windows\WinSxS\x86_microsoft-windows-calc_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6000.16386_none_a7873f3f1dd0e729\calc.exe
Paste it here (replace any existing file): C:\Windows\System32\calc.exe
Now we need to reset the permissions on those files. Please download this tool:
http://www.xptsp.com/fixit/get.php?u...acer_v1.5.4.7z
Extract it to your Desktop and right-click > Run as administrator.
Set permissions to TrustedInstaller
- In Se7ven File Replacer, click the Extra tab, then click Restore Trusted Installer
- Click Yes when prompted to continue
- You will be asked to select a file, navigate to the following file and select it:
%SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-aero_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_0a0916fa3009208a\aero.msstyles
Where %SYSTEMROOT% is the root folder of your system drive - usually C:\
- Then, one by one, repeat for these files:
Code:%SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-com-oleui_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_7c68eba6c772803d\oledlg.dll %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-dims-autoenroll_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_5004a8665487390e\pautoenr.dll %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-ehome-ehres_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_ae00f59c6a2932c3\ehres.dll %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-explorer_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17567_none_afa79dc39081d0ba\explorer.exe %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-netshell_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_33a9704224aa536e\netshell.dll %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-photometadatahandler_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_26645307ff353aae\PhotoMetadataHandler.dll %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-s..y-spp-plugin-common_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_2136d8ac9cfcea8b\sppobjs.dll %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-sqllitese_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_171d15c17a035a11\sqlcese30.dll %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-themeui_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_e3249be23220b37c\themeui.dll %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\amd64_netfx35linq-system.data.entity_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_913a3c3df2332df4\System.Data.Entity.dll %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\amd64_windowssearchengine-structuredquery_31bf3856ad364e35_7.0.7601.17514_none_2e4c645870e75f9d\StructuredQuery.dll %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\wow64_microsoft-windows-a..ence-mitigations-c1_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17571_none_745907853d8013aa\sysmain.sdb %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\wow64_microsoft-windows-ntshrui_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17755_none_c4602298477e94b2\ntshrui.dll %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-directx-direct3d9_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_c454d690bf084f04\d3d8thk.dll

None of these files exist :P
Although I did successfully replace the calc.exe and the calc.exe.mui files.Code:%SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-aero_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_0a0916fa3009208a\aero.msstyles %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-com-oleui_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_7c68eba6c772803d\oledlg.dll %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-dims-autoenroll_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_5004a8665487390e\pautoenr.dll %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-ehome-ehres_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_ae00f59c6a2932c3\ehres.dll %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-explorer_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17567_none_afa79dc39081d0ba\explorer.exe %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-netshell_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_33a9704224aa536e\netshell.dll %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-photometadatahandler_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_26645307ff353aae\PhotoMetadataHandler.dll %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-s..y-spp-plugin-common_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_2136d8ac9cfcea8b\sppobjs.dll %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-sqllitese_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_171d15c17a035a11\sqlcese30.dll %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-themeui_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_e3249be23220b37c\themeui.dll %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\amd64_netfx35linq-system.data.entity_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_913a3c3df2332df4\System.Data.Entity.dll %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\amd64_windowssearchengine-structuredquery_31bf3856ad364e35_7.0.7601.17514_none_2e4c645870e75f9d\StructuredQuery.dll %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\wow64_microsoft-windows-a..ence-mitigations-c1_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17571_none_745907853d8013aa\sysmain.sdb %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\wow64_microsoft-windows-ntshrui_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17755_none_c4602298477e94b2\ntshrui.dll %SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-directx-direct3d9_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_c454d690bf084f04\d3d8thk.dll
Sorry, that was sheer incompetence on my part. I meant these files:
C:\Windows\System32\en-US\calc.exe.mui
C:\Windows\System32\calc.exe
LOL
I actually had to Google "sheer incompetence" to make sure I was reading it right :P
But it's done.
It doesn't seem to like my files. I think the best option is to go for a repair install:
Repair Install
