BSOD during boot or Windows logo, TCPIP.SYS issue???

    Hello,

I've been reading a lot of threads on here for some time now trying to figure out how to fix this BSOD problem. I bought the parts in the computer back in 2008 (I know its old), and installing and running Windows XP Pro works just fine. Not a single blue screen to date. I started to install Windows 7 Ultimate on this pc so I can play BF3 but it just keeps crashing. If I get lucky I can get into safe mode without networking, then I would install the latest drivers for my graphics card and NIC and reboot, but I would still get the BSOD.

Most of the BSODs point to tcpip.sys (about 90%). So I was hoping maybe buying a seperate NIC might solve the issue. Got the Netgear GA311 PCI Network Adapter, disabled the onboard NIC, but still no luck.

I have ran memtest86+ over night (can't remember how many passes but it was more than 30) and no errors came up. Memory configuration is in the first and third slot (instructions from the menu that was in the box, but online menu said install in first and second ). I have also reinstalled Windows several times. I even installed it on my laptop, then moved the ssd to the desktop and it would still crash.

Been considering on purchasing a new mobo, proc, mem, but am hoping, with the help of the experts on this forum, this issue can be solved without a new pc. :)

I have uploaded the info from SF Diagnostics Tool. Please let me know if more information is needed. BTW, the info from the diagnostic is right after installing windows, with some crashes. So I have not installed the driver for GTX 460 nor the NICs. Installing them would cause the same BSOD crashes so I don't want to cram up the drivers. Thanks!

    Welcome aboard.

All your crashes are showing either NETIO.sys, or tunnel.sys or tcpip.sys. All those are network related. So the cause must be something related to network.

Searching, it is obtained as Realtek RTL8169/8110 Family PCI Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20). So searched for the drivers age, and got it.
    Code:
    lmvm rt64win7
    start end module name
    fffff880`03dc6000 fffff880`03df8000 Rt64win7 (deferred)
        Image path: \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\Rt64win7.sys
        Image name: Rt64win7.sys
        Timestamp: Thu Feb 26 14:34:13 2009 (49A65B0D)
        CheckSum: 000361A5
        ImageSize: 00032000
        Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4
That means, the driver is very old. You are to update it, from Realtek.

    Let us know the result.

I downloaded the latest driver from Realtek through the link you provided (Win7 and WinServer 2008 R2 Auto Installation Program (SID:1522305) Version: 7.061, Update Time: 2012/9/28), uninstalled the old driver from the system, installed the new driver using the auto installation program then restarted computer. Everything seemed fine at first, so i plugged in the network cable, a second later it crashed.

I took a picture of the BSOD and then booted into safe mode again. Navigated to /system32/drivers/Rt64win7.sys and the date on it says, 6/12/2012 10:00pm. This matches the date in device manager.

I ran the SF diagnostic tool again. Here are the updated files from the tool.

I really appreciate you helping me ARC. Really hoping to fix this problem.

Unfortunately the latest crash dump is not included in the zip ... all the dumps are previously checked !

sorry I changed to complete memory dump. Now I changed back to kernel dump and got 3 new ones. I had 4gb in the system when I started my comp again and it kept crashing even in safe mode, so I took 2gb out and safe mode works fine now. Still can't start up normally.

Did I mention that it crashes more often with the network cable plugged in? It seems to get farther into the loading windows step with the cable removed. Just FYI

Here are the new diagnostic files.

At first, you are advised to install service pack 1.
    Code:
Windows 7 Kernel Version 7600 MP (4 procs) Free x64
    Product: WinNt, suite: TerminalServer SingleUserTS
    Built by: 7600.16385.amd64fre.win7_rtm.090713-1255
    Otherwise stability cannot be expected.

This is very frustrating. I was up till 4am trying to install sp1. I downloaded the standalone installation and it keeps crashing when it is about to finish. After rebooting, I get a ton of BSOD such as, STOP 7F, STOP 7E, STOP C4, STOP 4E...some will say volsnap.sys others won't indicate which file. Booting into safe mode works but it will say update failure and revert the changes. If I get lucky, I can get into normal mode...after like 50+ BSODs. I tried to boot it up again this morning, sitting there for 10+ min restarting BSODs...never got into windows. There must be tons of minidumps now. I will upload them this afternoon and let you have some fun .

Will I be able to install sp1 from safe mode?
