DV has run for nearly 24h now, no bsod's since, think i can turn it off now and mark this as solved?

in case bsod's would happen again, can i re-open this thread?

Disble DV and play the game again. See it it is crashing again or not.

Did that game crash on DV?

it did crash the game 2 times while DV was running the 2nd day, but nothing got dumped and it didnt even show up in eventvwr, seems theres alot of people experiencing random crashes since one of the previous patches, all it does is pop the send error report from Rift itself and now way to tell why it crashed

played without DV and everything seemed fine

If you have the knowledge that it is being caused by just a patcher, you may overlook it and expect that a coming patch will rectify it.

will do, some patches it never crashes (rift encountered and error..), other patches it crashes alot and lots of people get it randomly

also, i have to add, most of the time i had bsod's was when i alt tabbed out of the game a couple times before popping a bsod a hour or so later, not sure if that has to do anything with it cause the game works fine when getting back in, but i did that even more when DV when running and didnt seem to affect it, so might be just Avira that was being the culprit

cant play much this week, but will see how it goes over the next few weeks, will mark this as solved and in case a bsod pops back up ill come back

thank you for your time and effort, it is greatly appreciated!

hello again, i think i found what was causing all these strange bsod's and game errors, since DV did not find a faulty driver i decided to look at the memory usage when i was playing Rift, and since i only had issues while playing this game, i found out i didnt have enough memory to keep up with in the first place, when i alt-tabbed out of the game it was showing 10-50mb of my 4GB that was available, and the longer you play the game, the bigger the cache seem to get

so i decided to buy new ram (8GB Corsair CMX8GX3M2A1333C9 dual channel) at the start of the week, and have been playing since without errors or bsod's (got 2 bsod's right before i bought them pointing at memory as usual), so i checked the ram usage again (source control or whatever the button is called in english in the Task manager under the performance tab), and it was showing 4.5GB of ram in use (with a couple of gigs that show "ready to use"; cache probably? and around 1.5GB available to use for whatever else), so the game never had enough memory to play with in the first place, and therefore probably caused all these weird issues

i knew Rift was quite a "heavy" game, but not this heavy came across someone with a similar issue that also had 4GB ram and solved it as well by putting more memory into his system, so thats what led me to trying this

thought i would let you know in case you come across another person that has similar issues
