    Richie,

Whilst you wait for Greg, please download the correct Windows 7 ISO from this link:
Official Windows 7 SP1 ISO from Digital River « My Digital Life

Burn it to DVD or USB.

Boot from it, and at the languages screen hit SHIFT+F10. The command window will open. Type the following, hitting the enter key after each command:

    Code:
    diskpart

    list disk
What is output to the Window?

I have followed the steps, downloaded the correct iso file, burned it to a dvd and i am stuck at a microsoft loading screen, this has been stuck on this for atleast half an hour now. Should it take this long to get to the language screen?

Nope, it should be quicker than that.

Try burning again but a slower speed (say 4x) if you haven't already. Also, unplug all external and internal drives, with the exception of the drive with the Windows 7 installation.

Ouch! OK, essentially it looks like the partition/s Windows needs to boot is completely gone. I'm not entirely sure how this can be rescued - also taking into consideration you tried to install Ubuntu to the disk...

Is there data on this disk you would like to recover if possible?

Excellent! Remember that tutorial I said to keep handy? Just follow that, and you'll be good. Post back here if you need any help with that, or clarification of steps.
