Do you have another computer to access? Attach the HDD there, and see if it reads or not.

Didn't you say Partition Wizard (run from Hirens' flash stick? It sounds like you weren't booting that correctly) said the HD was bad?

If you have WD drive then you want the WD Lifeguard diagnostics which are also on Hiren's. I thought I mentioned that. It will confirm whether HD is bad. But PW isn't wrong very often.

I have tried the diagnostics for WD but it wont recognize my HDD as it tests upto Vista. Yes when i used partition wizard it said my HDD was bad and i ran it from a partition wizard CD. It loaded itself and showed me my HDD

WD Data Lifeguard should have a download on your HD"s webpage, or try this one burned to CD: Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for DOS (CD)

If not try SeaTools for DOS | Seagate which works on all models.

You basically just want the death certificate signed. Then replace the HD and everything you need is here to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
