    BSOD: 0x0000008e

    Hello All,

I'll begin by apologizing for not including some of the information asked for in the BSOD initial thread instructions. However, I'm unable to do much before my HP Mini 110 crashes.

I have tried to scan the computer for viruses, malaware and update drivers but it crashes as soon as I try.

I did a system recovery to an earlier date, but it did not resolve the problem. I also ran memory test on BIOS and it was normal.

Operating System is Windows 7 Starter.

I have attached a photo of the blue screen and hope someone can help me.

    Welcome
iaStor.sys is the driver for Intel Matrix Storage Manager
Update it in safe mode with networking Intel® Driver Update Utility but first delete remnants of older drivers of it using Driver Sweeper

    Minidump files

I have attached the minidump files.

However, my computer is set to generate kernel dumps. Are these the same? If not, how do I retrieve the kernel dump?

Update the Intel Rapid Storage drivers as mentioned earlier.
    Code:
    1: kd> lmvm iaStor
    start end module name

I'm not sure I ever heard of CA Antivirus Anti-Malware but it's contributing in BSODs for you. Suggest you to uninstall it completely using relevant removal tool of it if any (search in google) or uninstall in advanced mode of Revo uninstaller free and replace with MSE.

Recommended antivirus program for Windows 7 based on stability compared to others:-

Run a full scan with both (separately) once downloaded, installed and updated.

Run Disk Check on your hard disk for file system errors and bad sectors on it:

    Hey KoolKat,

    Thanks for your suggestions.

I tried to update the drivers using Intel Automatic Utility scan and it detected that the following drivers need an update.

    Graphics Driver
Product DetectedCurrent Driver InstalledThis device is unknown or unsupported. Please contact the manufacturer for possible updates. More information>>

Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility (Chipset INF)

Since Intel is not giving me a link to download the updates needed, I looked for the in the HP Driver Update site, but did not find what's needed.

After some digging, I found this update on the Intel Download Center, but I'm not sure if it is compatible with my system. I downloaded it any, but even after reading the Read Me section, I'm unsure of how to install/update the old iaStor.sys driver.

CA is an antivirus provided by my ISP. I uninstalled it as suggested. The only antivirus I was able to run successully on Safe Mode was Avast! All the others trigger the BSOD. Avast! found 71 threats, I deleted them all. Evidently, CA was not protecting my computer.

I can no longer log on to Windows normally as the BSOD attacks as soon as I try to start up normally. Unfortunately, Microsoft Essentials cannot be run on Safe Mode.

iaStor.sys continues to be a problem since I continue to get the 0x0000008E error.

Anything else I should try before giving up? How do I update the iaStor.sys file with the download I found on the Intel Download Center?

    Thanks in advance.
