Yes that is very possible. Those components are older than windows 7 ... so they have all the possibilities to fail anytime, with any operation, particularly with the stressful operations.

Would their be any way to test this? To see if thats the problem without going and buying a brand new motheboard and all the rest?
See how it is working with normal things. Say simple browsing, watching videos and doing normal works. Then increase the stress gradually. See at which point it fails and crashes.
Okay so My computer seems to only crash after a game has been launched and is playing or might be a process running in he background after I've finished playing it. It is incredibly rare that my computer will BSOD if I just use it for Internet browsing and other less stressful processes. I think I'll buy a new motherboard.
That will be a worthy attempt. Make sure that you are buying one compatible with the processor, or otherwise you may need to change the processor too.
