I'm a Intel person. I do it in this fashion. CPU volts manually set and always monitor temps. Any settings I change I always watch the temps. I keep the CPU volts (vcore) below max. If need be I will bump up the vcore to make things work as long as the temps stay in the range where I want them. Watching the temps and vcore allows me to run all day every day at 4.2 and ram at 1700 cool. If you control the vcore and temps you won't make a toaster while you are tinkering.
